128i drifting and driving on skidpad
There's a police training skidpad nearby and I thought I'd go have some fun on it. It was a rainy morning so it was like glass - which is kind of fun but almost hopeless to control over 20 mph. So this video is a little over 2 minutes of what almost seems like slow-motion drifts.
I brought a 3-inch orange cone I got from a skip barber class I took, and I found a dirty old cone @ the skidpad, so I was doing figure-8s around the two of them. As the gruond dried up and i started gaining traction again, I ran over the smaller one. oops. As it dried up i started going a bit faster but i didn't want to chew my tires. I'm not claiming im a "drifter" or whatever, it was just fun, and i think the car looks elegant sliding across the pad. "A sqeaking tire is a happy tire. A screaming tire is no longer happy" -one of the Skip Barber Performance Driving instructors |

it was awesome,
the only bad part was the car was so disgustingly dirty in every possibly place, it took for ever to clean. there's a part in the video where i panned across the driver side so you can see the filth,..but it was everywhere! if you notice in a few scenes, I had my windows open.....TERRIBLE idea, the back seat was all speckled with dirty skidpad water. nothing that didn't come off with a damp cloth though. Leatherette cleans very easy. and the dirt on the outside of the car, soapy car mit took it right off! good as new now though! |

yeah, it was so easy to spin out on that pad, it actually almost felt like hydroplaning, the wheels would never gain grip again if you were going a hair too quick, so i had to keep it slow.
