Magnaflow update
Just heard back from AutoAnything on the Magnaflow. The ETA was bumped from 7/26 to 8/27 Looks like I am going to follow bozola's lead and get the BMWP Exhaust. More expensive, but have only heard great reviews here.

I have no choice because I can't cancel it, but I know I will be very happy with it. Its a good American company. I am willing to wait. Anyways I get married tomorrow then go on our honeymoon for a few days. I'm sure I won't think about it...too much =P

Glad to hear Magnaflow is expediting your exhaust. Had the Performance Exhaust installed this morning. The sound clips do not do it justice. Truly sounds amazing. To top it off my mechanic of 10+ years put it on for $20.

I was always thinking about the BMW performance exhaust but I assume aftermarket would grant me better returns as far as power and tuneability:P I might try Bastuck but i'm not sure. Kinda worried to get an exhaust that isn't legal in California.

So the Magnaflow exhaust is not going to happen. I know many of you were looking forward to see how this went and I'm sorry to disappoint you. Mod Bargains told me that Magnaflow will be doing extra tests on it and they will take at least a month more.
As you might of known I entered into this deal knowing I could NOT cancel this order. Luckily after a bit of convincing Mod Bargains help me out. Being that this was a special circumstance they will be getting me a refund. I'm pretty happy that they will be able to do this. Mod Bargains customer service was a little wish-wash at first being that the updates didn't come very fast. Beside that they were very helpful and friendly. I can't even tell you how much I LOVE great customer service. They worked with me and worked with me until I was happy. I would buy from them again without fear of poor service. Hey Mod bargains if you happen to read this...should we be expecting more mods to come out for our 128i?

I am disappointed with Magnaflow as well. If the exhaust is not currently available don't tell your suppliers to take orders I digress. The Performance Exhaust is always an option (no emission worries for CA either). From what I have heard performance gains are minimal with a cat-back anyway. Most of us get the exhaust for the sound (at least on our NA cars, the 135 is a different animal). Cheers

The only reason I want an exhaust, besides how sick it sounds, is because I'm getting my car tuned in Germany where I can gain 40HP and 58 Torque

I put a Berk Tech 135 exhaust on my 128. You just need to be willing to bust any warranty by cutting part of the front end of the pipes off and welding them into the stock exhaust system.
A shop did it for me and it has worked out very well. The system is at least 10lbs lighter than stock and makes a wonderful noise. :-)

The Bastuck exhaust has arrived and is in my trunk as I'm typing this!
I will be putting it in RIGHT after work. I will try to get some pics and maybe a video or two. Also, once the exhaust is in I will be going to ETSpower and getting my tune which should yield roughly 40hp and 58 torque. The is total for the intake, exhaust and tune. FYI those numbers are at the crank.

Harrison,
I'm glad you got an exhaust system quickly and that was to your liking. I do apologize for the mishap on your order as issues like this do arise from the time to time. I made sure our department made an exception for you on the order since I'm an enthusiast myself and I wouldn't want to be stuck in the position you were in. Give me a call when you're ready to shop for other items. We'll make sure we take care of you on your next order! |

So I went to put the exhaust on and it didn't fit. I guess its just for a 125i...not sure though. I thought it was the same. Anyways, one of the mounting brackets was in a different place and the pipes are a little to long where they connect to he cats. I am having a shop here that will customize it for me and should have it done by Thursday. Thank god they are nice because they are doing it for CHEAP. They are doing that because all the !@#$ that happened.
So its crazy but DAMN IT I will have my exhaust. My exhaust might come out to the same price or less then the Berk exhaust that was customized to fit a 128i. Quote:

So it's in! It looks good especially the offset tips. I'm a little unhappy that I can see the muffler so well under the car. I also thought it would be louder than it is. I even got it without the silencer/resonator. I wish deleting the second cats was legal and would pass emissions. Am I correct in thinking that it would be illegal and would not pass emissions? Maybe it will be louder with some time. Anyways I'm still happy with it so that's good. Total cost was 785 EURO for the exhaust and 55 EURO for the customization which included 2 or 3 hours of welding and cutting and mounting. The 55 was a steal, but he was a nice guy. In US that's about $1100 total. The magnaflow total would be a lot less but would cost extra shipping besides what the company charged me. I think it would have been about $55 extra through apobox.com, because they have to repack it to make it APO friendly. Also Bastuck said the exhaust would fit but it didn't so how do I know the magnaflow would have. Also, at the time the magnaflow exhaust was not available. Get this...the magnaflow exhaust came available right after I bought this one... So, say I had gotten the magnaflow exhaust and it had to be customized the same way. The guy I bought the bastuck exhaust from is the same guy who did the customization. If I had just brought him the magnaflow exhaust to customize he would have charged me full price which would have been around 129 EURO which is around $170. All-in-all I lost about $225 going with the Bastuck. However the Bastuck is a lot more money in the states. BLAH BLAH BLAH. SO much to say but I'm sure you catch my drift. I will be getting the tune ASAP and the dyno to go with it. I CAN'T WAIT!
