Carlos your thoughts on this first hand experience >

Front wheel fitment warning!

Quote:
Be very, very careful when choosing aftermarket front wheel/tire fitments. To my surprise, an 18x8.5 et44 wheel fitted to the front of my 135i had ~1mm clearance on the steering arm and shock strut, inadequate for safe street use, IMO. Moreover, the wheel extended beyond the outside of the front fender, inviting fender lip damage, and preventing spacer use to cure the inside clearance issue. An 8" wide front wheel may be the maximum problem-free street fitment, and then only if offset is test fit first (40 - 45?).

Test fit your choice of wheel/tire front fitment before buying to be safe.

That opinion was given purely as a heads up for non-custom, after-market wheels that many assume will fit and I did not mean to imply that no 8.5" wide wheel would fit the front of the 1-Series (asv has already proven it is possible). Custom wheels such as the Morr are specifically designed for correct fitment by the manufacturer.

Looks like Carlos is going to get the certification's done.
I can say the VS7 have been a strong wheel and look great.

I would expect the GB to drag on for a few months before wheels are actually delivered, especially if it's an 18" wheel since it'll require new tooling.
I'm sure nothing will happen here until the E90 GB is done with either.

^ You are probably right about that aus. The nature of a smaller manufacturer. The advantage of a really strong wheel, really good looking wheel, purpose built, and light outweigh the waits IMO.

My ED isn't until Oktoberfest so the wait is not too big a deal for me, but many may want these sooner.

I will check with Carlos and see if he can provide us with a timeline that he can live with and we can count on.

Your observation regarding the wheel width and offset only clearing the strut and arm by ~1-mm and also probably rubbing at the fender and extending beyond the wheel well is what got my attention Mikeo! Seems like you were seeing the 8.5 being pretty hemmed-in at best.

Having so much information available quickly and in an organized manner, is what is what is so cool about forums like this though. IMO we have some more to learn about what will or will not fit up front.

I had 19x8.5 +35 offset on my car with 235s and it fit fine, no rubbing of any kind even during full lock.

Current types of finish pictures >

Sparkle Silver vs Smoked Titanium

Sparkle Silver

Smoked Titanium

Concave much ? (one of the E90, E92, E93, E46 ///M, Z4 ///M offset wheels currently offered pictured below)

This one I think would look fine on my AW and may emphasis the concavity and probably hide a little brake dust. The VS8's will look great too. I am waffling now as to VS7 or VS8!

Signature (Black) [Polished face with Ivory Black inserts]

NEW color samples in. Diamond Black and holy crikey do they look sweet.

Pics of the DB in different lighting conditions.

OK so as I have said before. These are pics of VS7's for the E90 crowd, Carlos is working through a group buy for VS8's for them currently. These are samples for color purposes to help them decide on the wheel finish. But clearly this helps us decide too once the time comes.

Any new info on these wheels? Is it possible to run a staggered setup as any M3's do?

It is possible to run staggered. I would guess that Carlos will offer staggered at standard pricing.

For now anyway this group buy is headed toward a non-staggered 8.5" wheel.

aus not sure if you had seen this post from Carlos on pg. 7. This is what we have so far from Morr re: the VS8's. "Hot" off the presses. Sorry, so sorry for the terrible pun.

The front and rear look different at the point where the spokes joint the rim. The fronts look like there's a slight angle there while the rears look like the VS7, which is a little block looking.

They do look sweet and they'll show off the caliper's better. Lets hope Carlos will finish up with that GB and start up here.

Any news on the 19's being available for the 135? I would think it would be easier for them to machine a 19" wheel.

I'm beginning to lose a little confidence in Morr, nothing again Carlos or the company, but a little info would be nice. I could go to numerous "custom" companies(fikse, dpe, iforged) for nearly the same $$$ and have fantastic communication. Ugh, too bad because his wheels are to die for.

In another thread on m3forum, Carlos said they'd be working on the E46 M3 guys after the E92 group buy, so it may be a while till he gets to this board.

There's also a LOT of good info in this thread:

http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showt...ht=morr&page=6

And a lot of hater's who don't know anything about this wheel.
