Yes, your car has an oil life sensor, which also works in conjunction with your electronic dipstick. It actually measures the quality of your oil, I believe via a dielectric sensor.

Yes, I think it is somewhat reliable, though I'm not sure it can account for fuel dilution and excessive shearing of the oil. I believe though it can accurately account for TBN degradation. The best way to be sure is to perform a UOA to confirm, based on your driving habits.
