Edmunds.com review of Acura TL with note of 135i driver...
So I live in So Cal myself and know the wonderful Angeles Forest Highway.
It's a fun drive that car (and motorcycle) enthusiasts have used for years. It's also a HUGE test bed for auto manufacturers and car mags when they take out new cars to see how they handle. A perfect example is this article in Edmunds.com with the new 2009 Acura TL The interesting part of the article came when they wrote this: "A night run down Angeles Forest Highway convinced us that no such forgiveness was necessary. The big TL casually and confidently attempts to outrun its headlights. We did not keep up with the BMW 135i that was apparently being driven straight out of Hell. But then, we wouldn't have been able to match that lunatic even if we had been driving an identical 135i." So, that begs the question. Is that 135i driver on this forum? I'm guessing it would be yes. But does that 135i driver know it was the 2009 TL driven by an Edmunds.com road tester...ahem journalist that was behind him and who apparently tried to keep up for a bit? Funny how they call a person who clearly has better driving skills a "lunatic". Maybe the way the driver in the 135i WAS driving on a public road (that often has little traffic in most parts) was being a lunatic however. But either way, is that "lunatic" driver on this forum and are you willing to admit it was you? |

That's the funniest thing I have ever read. I come from the SRT-4 and there was a video going around of an Integra and S2000 racing, and they are going at for a while, then from way behind and obviously uninvited, an SRT-4 comes screaming past them and slaughters them both. It's hilarious. I would post the video, but it's street racing and will probably get deleted. In the end of the video they call the SRT-4 driver an idiot or lunatic as well, I guess that's the price you pay for being faster.

Many years ago, I had a Miata and would drive to lunch from downtown Dallas up Turtle Creek. That area was where one of the Porsche dealers took prospective drivers to test cars. I will admit that when I saw paper plates on a Porsche, I'd drive fairly quickly, usually in a four wheel drift and see if they could keep up. Over many months, no one ever did.
My ex was friends with the sales manager there, and one day I dropped in to say hi. She looked at my Miata, looked at me and laughed. Then she asked me to stop heckling their test drives, and stated that I'd actually cost them sales when potential buyers couldn't catch a "lowly" Miata in a Porsche. |

AMAZING,...
I thought I was a decent driver. That was until I saw this video. Oh,..and until I turned off the DTC the other day on a dry on-ramp, and almost put the thing into a guard rail. DOH! the rear end smoked and came out sideways like I was on a sheet of ice. Luckily I saved it and now have a deeper respect for this cars power! Im just gonna start riding a bicycle. That guy Rocks!
