Damn Run Craps! Help!

I got a damn nail in my run craps and my dealer wanted to charge $400 for a new tire plus install.

Should i just buy some Hankook Ventus tires from Tire Rack. They aren't run flat, will they still work on a OEM 18inch rim?

Just have it fixed somewhere else. Even the dealer will think your nuts if you buy a tire from them.
When my runcraps wear out I will replace them with Hankooks. They look like the perfect tire for my car.

I was told the tire warranty will replace any kind of tire as long as it was on the car at the time of damage. This means winters, summers, all-seasons, run flats, etc. My SA even told me if I accidentally shoot a nail into a tire while unmounted sitting in my garage, put the tire on the car and they will replace it under the warranty.

I haven't needed to use it yet, but it was still the best $500 I spent.

I read my tire warranty, and it makes no mention of 'CAR MUST HAVE OEM TIRES' in it. The warranty is for the car, not the tires. You can put whatever you want on it.

I just ordered 225/18/40 and 255/18/35 Hankook Ventus V12 Evo's for my 135i w/ stock 18" rims. Will post a review once installed. I've read only great things about them. If I were you, I'd make the move.

I paid 600 shipped, with a 50$ mail in rebate (that expires 8-31-09)

Indeed. While I still had the RFTs on, I had a blow out on the highway after hitting a pothole and other than a couple hours time lost, the dealer had new tires and a free wash ready for me the same day. GE (the tire insurer) wasn't even open - it was a Saturday - and my SA took care of contacting them and the paperwork without anything else needed from me.

So - in theory - you could put your friend's shot tires/wheels on your car and get them updated for free? Hmmm - there must be a loophole in that agreement that would prevent that sort of thing from happening.

I've had a couple of punctures fixed on runflats in the past with no problems.

I installed the hankooks on my stock rims last week and threw the Continental fix a flat kit in the trunk. Man what a difference real tires make. Car honestly feels so much more connected to the road now. No more rattling your bones with every little bump in the road, doesnt feel like youre sliding around corners on hockey pucks...so nice. Once you taste the non runflat world, you wont ever go back. I only have 100 or so miles on these Hankooks, but mailed my rebate in today
