I'm so confused. 1 series spotted.

Somebody from my s2000 forums spotted a 1 series today. But didnt take a picture!! But why was it a four door????? What is going on here???? i copied his post below.

"I was driving in Tucson on Sunday when I saw a 1 series filling up at a gas station. I had my camera with me (always do) but I didn't take a pic because it was completely undisguised so I thought it was already out. An internet search when I got back shows that it's certainly not out yet (in the States). Damn!

Anyway, it looks like a pretty cool little car. The one I saw was a 4-door hatch. Anyone know anything about it? "

Maybee they were doing drivetrain / longevity / heat testing in which case it wouldn't matter which body style was on the car, since the 4 door 1 series is already out around the world, then no need for any coverups, etc...

Did it have mexican plates? There are 1-series spotted in southern california all the time that are cars that are visiting from Mexico.
