135 Replacement
Which next car that you would consider to replace your 135: MB CLA AMG (4 Dr coup, 355 hp & AWD), Audi S3 (4 Dr, 300 hp & AWD), BMW M2 (2 Dr, 320 hp), BMW M2 GC (4 Dr., 320 hp), BMW M3 (4 Dr., Est. 450 hp) or BMW M4 (2 Dr., Est. 450 hp). Please let me know your choices. Thanks

Not knowing what the M235 or M2 will be like, I think the only car I would consider replacing my 135 with is a 1M. Most likely I will keep the 135 and add another vehicle to the stable later on.

I am close to retirement, just want to buy another sport car and very likely this will be my last expensive new car. My budget range from 40 to 70 K$. My selection critericas are in this priority order: Sport car like performance (more in handling than straight line performance), expect 0-60 mph in the range of 4.0-4.8 sec., decent gas mileage (like 20+ city), looks sporty, prefer 4 doors but can live with 2 doors, easy to maintain (like can do a lot of DIY works), minimum gadgets but don't mind if they are standard (like prefer leatherlett over real leather), prefer hard top over convertible top, would like to keep my 1 but may have to sell it in order to lower the purchase price down the preferred 40-50 K$ range.
Given the above criterias, yes, the new Corvette can be in my shoping list too. Right now, I thinki MB CLA AMG could be my best choice or BMW M2 GC.

Waiting for the debut of the M235i, it's either that or I'm riding the 1er til the end.

So far I'm feeling like my 135i will be a keeper. We'll see. Also waiting to see what the M235i/M2 will be like! Super excited.
Merc CLA and Audi S3 are both out for me as there is no stick shift option. Horrid decision IMO.

This is why I went with the 135. I was amazed they didn't even offer it when I started shopping.

2014 Corvette Coupe, but it will more likely be a 2015 model.

If he's leaning toward a sedan over a coupe, I would image a straight two-seater would be out.

Cayman R is too pricey and not a DIY car.

A lot of people (myself included) seem to be going through this right now.
My lease expires in December - and I really like that new new car smell, so it was always my intention to get something new. I hated my my 135i for about the first 18-months. I could not wait to get rid of it...then I replaced the suspension (BMW PS) and tires (PSS) and suddenly I love it to bits. Such small changes with such major positive effects. Now I've got a big problem - I very much doubt the two cars on my shortlist (Carrera S and TT-RS) can give me the smiles/mile/$ that the 135i gives...I don't think it will be even close. This car - once the suspension is slightly improved - is just such a blast I don't want to let it go. I've owned 15 cars in the past 20 years. On 2 occasions in the past I knew I made a mistake when I sold a car to upgrade to something "better" (first gen Impreza Turbo (not sold in US) and an AP1 Honda S2000)...those cars were special, and I promised myself if I ever again owned something that just feels right, I would not let it go so easily...well, looks like the 135i is that something special. I'm just gonna buy it, get a Performance Exhaust and a Dinan LSD and extend the warranty when the time comes. |
