Seats falling apart...

So, after only 3300 miles in the seat, the damn Leather is pulling out from under the latch on the seat shoulder. WTF is up with that? Havent been to the dealership yet here in Italy, as I dont want to argue details for warranty crap with Italians that wont understand me right now.

Man, the car is great, but that is just a bummer. Im not one to nit pick, but seats shouldnt be falling apart at the seams after 3300 miles. Wonder how they will fix that crap, I know the techs wont touch it... new seat maybe?

i also see the leather pulling away from under the rear seat entry latch, im going to mention it when i bring my car in for service, they might just glue it back, i doubt i would get a brand new seat out of it

Glue it back...... Lulz, shit I can do that. From BMW parts, I expect alot more to hold the leather into the seat, as in metal clip fasteners and staples. Cheap ass glue doesnt cut it in my book.

glues have been used to hold seats together forever. hell, glues and tape are used to hold cars together...well, trim, antenna, spoilers....etc.

the dealer would seem to be your best option at the moment.

metal clips and staples would most likely tear holes in the leather

All the leather is stapled to the bottom of the seats to hold them in place, they use metal "tacks".

I know how you feel it's one of the seat issue I have. The dealership here did nothing to help! I guess I will get it fixed in th U.S. Shipped car last week.

I've had that on my driver's side seat too...I just shoved it back in there and it hasn't come back out since. When I go in for service I'll ask them to reglue it.

When I was at the BMW Welt... I saw that the drivers seat on this 120d was falling apart too. The drivers left bolster was looking pretty sad. This is the only pic I have of it. Not the best pic. But you can see how loose the leather is.

Btw... I don't think its any big deal for a dealer to order a new seat cushion. All the seat parts can be ordered seperately. The seats are modular bc of the air bags and sensors and heating elements. Should not be any big problem getting a replacement.

You will be amazed at what an Auto Upholstery shop can do for the seats. A good dealership will send the car over to the upholstery guys who will fix it better than new. Don't sweat it. I've had upholstery repairs on cars that were undetectable and great.
