It should be noted that in the financial world there are ways to hedge currency fluctuations (not that I know what they all are). This works for a time to even out changes but not forever. I believe European car companies are going to be very challenged when it comes to profitability in the US market making emerging markets (China, Russia, India) look even better. And they will want the diesels.
