another tire size fitment question VMR CSLs
I know these size threads can get annoying but I'll be placing my order soon.
in regards to the VMR CSL reps VB3: on the rear, will i be okay with 255's or should i definitely get 245's? advantages/disadvantages of either (stretching vs not stretching) i'm on stock suspension now, but within a month or two I'll be getting either modified V2's, TCKR, or the Cross coilovers. (still haven't decided yet) will i need to roll the fenders either way?? what about the front? 225 vs 235. thanks for putting up with another tire size question!! :]

first of all a 255 is actually slightly stretched also. here im running the 225/ 255 setup staggered 18 inch setup slammed on kw v3
i would recommend rolling your fenders and running the 255, yes they have to be rolled with them but its worth it. you do NOT want a 235 in front. 225 if your really really low will just get the slightest bit of rubbing. my fenders are cut and i can even run something wider now if i wanted. |

your first photo, why does it stick out so much and the tire not flush with the wheel lip?
is that your front or rear? wheel width? offset?

That will be a pic of the rear and 255 tyre on a 9.5" rim is a little stretched but you will struggle, without fender work, to get a wider tyre on without rubbing with the ET45.

i understand. but what i'm confused about is how much wheel lip is sticking out (from the tire, not the fender).
i don't see any of that with the 255 and 9.5" combinations shown in this thread: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...VMR+CSL&page=2

rodi : you need to read
That will be a pic of the rear and 255 tyre on a 9.5" rim is a little stretched stretching tire is the reason that there is a gap between the tires and rim you dont see anything in that thread because there are no pictures like mine super close up and over exaggerates the gap |

i was told there'd be no reading involved. what the hell?
anyway - i know it's a close-up photo, but that doesn't change the angle and protrusion that is shown. versus, say for instance, this setup (255 on 9.5"): or this one (245 on 9.5" - which would need to be stretched even further with a more exaggerated protrusion than that of your close-up photo): So, hopefully you see why I'm asking and hopefully my question does not sound as stupid as you had originally thought. ;] is this something that will be dependent upon the type of tire (a tire known to have a more square shape than others)? thank you for your help.

you can clearly see the little gap between where the tire beads to the rim in the first picture you just posted.
second picture i dont know what your trying to show as that is a front wheel? yes, a 255 toyo will be skinnier and stretch more than some other tire for instance |

I thought people are running 225/255 on stock wheel with no rubbing, is this true?

regarding the little gap in both photos, i clearly see rubber of the tire above the gap being flush with the wheel lip - which differs from your photo where it is not flush. that's my observation i'm pointing out. at any rate, we'll see how the 255 tires that i get work out - and i'll be prepared to shave some fenders. :] thanks for your responses. stock wheel, yes. but the wheel in question for this thread is a 9.5" rear wheel.

It really depends on the tire here. You'll show more lip of the wheel depending on the tire you go with, or the complete opposite. In the photo with the Dunlop tires on our 1 series, those sizes are 225/255 on 18" CSL's. Slight fender rolling since we're pushing a lot of power out of the car, so we wanted to accommodate that with the tire. Our 135i is also lowered on KW V3's so because of that, a slight fender roll was needed, but with the 245 size and the right tire, I've heard great things about it Quote:

Yup, it's very tire dependent, especially when you are slightly stretching to begin with. Fmxomar's tires appear to be Nexxens. They run small but I still run 255 Nexxens's on my 10inch Porsche wheels and they don't look anymore stretched that his on 9.5's. They are a fairly soft sidewalled tire which I need on my Porsche.
My Hankook 245's also don't look as stretched as Fmxomar's on my BMW 9'5's. Reading won't clear up the issue, it's very goofy how different tires fit. I went to a cheesy used tire dealer off Cheshire Bridge and paid to have them put some different tires on my Porsche just to figure out what would fit. Basically you can only compare the exact same setups before the comparison becomes valid. Either way, with 245's or 255's on 9.5 et45's, you are gonna have to do fender work and you may still rub some. I've never tried Sdrives but that's what I'm trying next time, 245/35 on my 19's. I'm scared to go to 30 profiles in Atlanta.

i'm set on getting the goodyear F1 Asymmetrics (they don't seem as square as the dunlops that have been used a lot with these wheels). guess we'll see when they all come together. 225 / 255
i'm guessing that it'll all fit fine until i get to my suspension upgrades next month, at which point just more tweaking would be required.
