Well, by 330i will be in my hands very soon..... it's sitting in NY now... So, a question... What did youall pay for your alarm installation? My dealer here in White Plains is quoting me $695. Thanks! Can't wait.

$230 parts for me from pacific bmw. I installed it myself which took me 30 min for just plugging the wires. After the installation, I got clown nose blinking, ultrasonic sensor and door-lock trigger detection. I didn't get the hood pin trigger and the "chirp" arm/disarm to work yet since those are activated through software done by dealers only (for $75 - $150). Hope this helps.

i must have had a sign taped to my back that said "kick me," because i was suckered out of $750 for the alarm and installation @ irvine BMW.

i love the alarm though. integrates well with the car's electronics, including the Comfort Access.

Quoted $730 the first time around but then I sent them a link to the DIY page on this site and suddenly the price fell to $415 installed. Call them on the price and see if they'll move. I'm glad I did!

My dealer showed me the list of dealer installed options and I believe it was $388 for the alarm.
The car is prewired so all they have to do is plug in all the pieces so I can't see why they would charge $700.

Ask to see the dealer installed option list.

Also on that list were the floormats which I think were $125 but most dealers just include those with the car or at least mine has always done that.

i like the blinking clown nose and the cool open and close sounds the alarm makes. sounds similar to the way a toyota or lexus (i presume your wife's gx has this feature) would.

So the alarm will go off if someone tries to break in.

Jmatero, both White Plains and Greenwich BMW have the outlandish price of $695 for their alarms. Avoid them, if you can. I was personally insulted when they told me of those prices.

If you have the time to make a trip into Connecticut, you can get the alarm installed for $400-$450 in Bridgeport or North Haven. Same parts, same service, less money.

I believe Ridgefield is around this price as well, and you should also call Darien which would be the closest to you.

Or, try negotiating with Westchester, or look at other dealers in NY. $695 is just a ripoff.

Yea, to see which d@mn car is making all that noise.

Which car do you think a thief would rather break into: a car with no audible alarm or a car that will emit a siren?

Scenario:
A thief tries to break into a car and the alarm goes off. The thief tries to shut off the siren but fails. Will the thief take his/her sweet time to pilfer through the car? The thief prefers not to have any attention at all. So when any kind of noise goes off, the first reaction is to look towards that direction.

is the alarm to prevent the thief from driving off with the car or prevent him/her from stealing stuff from the car?

either way....it's all good....my other vehicle came with an alarm as a standard feature....and i thought my e90 did too...until i read it on the forum...

Don't worry about it, So. Cal. dealers are giving very high prices for alarm installs. The best I could find was $630 from Nick Alexander (in 'da hood). Irvine gave me $650, I believe. And Crevier $695. South Bay was almost $900 . But I had my CA talk to the service guys and do it for $600 before I bought it (which is still more than people in other parts of the country). You did not get screwed--that much.

Only problem with this is the alarm will not be covered under the 4 year warranty since you installed it yourself. If this is a new alarm, I'm willing to bet that it will have issues.

So what's the point of doing the oem alarm installation if certain features are not activated w/out the bmw service mechanic's input.

I paid $450, was told I got a deal because I bought the car from them. I think my price was fair.

Bought it online from Pacific BMW for $230, used the DIY instructions from e90Post and installed it myself (<1 hour). Paid the dealer $100 to activate alarm and upgrade to CIP20.1.
