Bluetooth adaptor for Y cable?

Curious if this would work to connect my phone and be able to use my steering wheel to control songs?

That's probably not going to work correctly.

This is what you want:

Been round the block on a few options. If you have an android or a device with aptx Bluetooth (iPhone does not) then a Bluetooth option like the one above might be good. With my iPhone, I noticed a huge difference between aux and Bluetooth. It was crisp but lacked bass big time.

I tried a y cable for a while and it was a little spotty with connection depending on when the phone was plugged in (car on v. Off v. Warmup). Signal would randomly drop too and the deck would forget the device was connected. Un/plugging didn’t always work to fix it. Random buzzing crackle too. Quality was great when it actually worked.

I also tried and airport based device - but abandoned that due to overall quality issues with sound.

Finally I got an iPad min+dock and an aux/dc power lightning cable which has been great. Also purchased a small Bluetooth remote to control the iPad without looking away from the road.

I ran the Tune2Air adapter above for years without a single issue. The Bluetooth connection was strong, and my iPhone would connect instantly once the car was started. As far as phone calls are concerned, my iPhone would simultaneously connect to both Bluetooth signals and it would switch seamlessly when a call came in. Steering wheel controls worked beautifully too.

When I tried the BMW Lightning Y-cable, my sound quality suffered terribly. It was like the cable was trying to amplify the signal from my phone and causing distortion in the process.

Ultimately the Tune2Air was the best solution I found until I sold my old 1-series and bought another with Enhanced BT and HK premium sound.

So you used that tune2air y cable, you posted above? Been thinking about doing that or doing a combox retrofit

Yes, try this cable first. Much easier and far less costly than doing the combox retrofit.

Anyone have issues with the Bovee only having good sound coming from the driver side but really bad and faded from the passenger side?

Sounds like a defective unit if the stereo behaves normally otherwise.

Could be.

I read three reviews out of 364 on amazon that had a similar behavior and attributed it to a firmware issue on the device.

Was curious to see if anybody else here had that issue.

Another similar item to Tune2Air that claims to work with steering wheel control:

https://bmwstream2air.com/

I never tried their product so I can't say if it's good.

Also, I've tried different versions Tune2Air adapters and they all failed to work for me .
They all had skipping track & disconnection issues, even with BT disconnected from car telephone.
I went back to using USB stick.
