What about those cars?

I have a 2007 ford ranger which I use for work and winter driving which shows signs of rust and corrosion damage all over from winter use. The boys is in its early stages of falling apart and it only has 7 winters.

My fear is the same for the bmw

So I drove on the Nokian R2's for the first time yesterday.

Softer than I had anticipated on dry but I suspect they'll make up for it on snow & ice.

Noticed the tire shoulder was quite square so when I did the full lock test there was mild rubbing on the front passenger side, will have to be careful in parking lots.

I would not say it is washed weekly but maybe one a month.

A car wash that provides an "Underbody wash" for the win.

The Hakka's were rubbing at full lock on passenger side, not anymore.

Don't know the diameter but they are very square shouldered.

A nice 3M job and winter paint fears should more or less vanish right?

my feeling is that summer tires don't have the same issues as the winter do due to the squared off tire shoulders....but I'm not sure as I've never thought about going wider than 245 in the front....

255s would be nice to maintain a reasonable stagger vs 275s or 285s in the rear.

The SS's are more square shouldered vs the SS2's.

I guess it depends on what your rim width and offset is - I had camber plates at -2 but with 18x9.5 +22 I needed shorter (smaller) tires than that 245/40R18 Pilot A/S 3 I had. +30 (using +35 rim and spacers) might have worked but then I would need spacers in the rear as well for a square setup

Took the beast out today in very nasty weather.

The side roads were quite icy and the Hakka's performed quite well.

Great stopping power on ice.

aren't the Hakkas amazing on the slippery stuff? am always blown away by their grip. Have never had snow tires this good before.

last year...i drove like a maniac during the blizzards in NY. when i had the 135is. The tires were amazing.

For what they lack in dry conditions they make up for in snow/ice.

Do you miss the 997 4?

That was my other choice but I went for the 1M and haven't regretted it yet.

Hi Vocan, yes in some ways I miss my 997, for the full leather interior, the cabin feeling so special, and just because the 911 is a myth, but you can go shopping with the 1M, carry 2 children with comfort, and most of all, the 1M is wayyyy much funky to drive !!!
I would like to have back the Porsche only 1 day, but I definetely keep the 1M !
