Inlet/Charge Pipe fail

The inlet pipe popped off last night at a trackday at knockhill
pushed it back on but after 1 lap off it popped again

Trackday wasted still time for an upgrade

The pipe broke at the neck is this were they all go ?

I have popped a Jubilee-Clamp (hose clip) round it so it cant pop off till the upgraded metal pipe arrives.

The charge pipes fail. More so on the N55's than the N54's though. Are you running a tune?

I waited 4 years to change the charge pipe, which costs less than a track day . . . It was in the back of my mind every time I went to the track. I was lucky and never had a failure. I am now running a tune, so it was an absolute necessity.

Yep, that's where they all fail.

Mine failed without a tune on a trackday. In hindsight I would have replaced it as soon as I got the car.

Just paid 600 at the dealership for a fresh charge pipe on my 2011. As it turns out, the all state premium extended warranty does not cover it. *ANGER*

Replaced twice. First under warranty. 2nd time I went with stock unit again but dealer comped me the parts bill so it was only 300.

Is there a noticeable difference in sound with an aftermarket charge pipe? More/less turbo noise?

Not unless you change the stock recirculating diverter valve (DV) setup to a blow off valve (BOV)

The next time it fails, upgrade to an aftermarket alum. style.
