You don't have sport seats in your car? If you're looking for just memory seats I'll tell you something - don't do it. It's not worth it.

This is not entirely accurate. For LCI, the e90 went from having the seatback netting to not having it. Same goes with the headrest, later E90s did not have the telescoping headrests. Finally, the stitching also changed on the e90s mid-cycle.
FWIW my 2013 128i does have the netting. I had a 2007 E90 with seats that felt flimsier than my new 2013 128. I bought that car with 22k on the odo so maybe they were just more broken in? My car now has 12k and the seats still feel more "substantial" than those in the e90. I think over time the padding will become more worn in and the sport seats will change their shape ever so slightly. To the OP, were the cars you tried of the same vintage? Quote:

I traded a 3 for a 1er a few years ago and I can definitely say the seats are not the same. The 1er seats are thinner and have less rake adjustment, not to mention the back width. I guess the width of the car mandated a difference, it's not to bad but it is noticeable and has nothing to do with the bolsters being adjusted.

Just a FYI. E92 M3 are direct bolt in for E82 1-series. Plugs and bolt locations require 0 modification.

If I could find a manual pair of coral red sport seats for my new 128i I would probably spring for them. I think that is the one upgrade that I would really like to do. Time to keep my eyes open.

are the headrests interchangeable?
reason i am asking as the 1s sports seats are fixed, and i find a bit hard. would be nice to have them to be able to move forward and have a bit more cushion. sometime you want to drive and not have your head bouncing off the darn headrest. |

Yes. The e92 seats fit, and I hear the e90 seats fit as well. I'm shopping for either M3 seats of sports seats for an e8X e9x right now.

The seats in the 3 series also have an active headrest restraint (airbag mechanism), were the headrest is pushed forward during a collision. The 1 series seats don’t have this.
