Any 135is Owners in Mineral Grey?

Hey everyone. I am a former 2008 135i owner, getting one of the first ones back in the day, ordering it sight unseen in person. Unfortunately, someone smashed into it and destroyed it in 2010, and while I've been driving an S5 since then (I know...I know...), I think I'm going to order a new 135is tomorrow.

Problem is, for the life of me, I can't find any good pictures of Mineral Grey on a 135is. Does anybody on the forum have one? My 2008 was Titanium Silver as unfortunately Space Gray wasn't offered until 2009, and while I like Space Gray, I think I want a darker, truer charcoal. Any help would be greatly appreciated and may drive 30 miles over the weekend as a dealer seems to have one in Mineral Grey, just not the specs I want.

Thanks everyone. Would also love some feedback too of any 135is owners who were former N54 135i owners to see what their overall opinions on the differences are. Hard for me to even find an "is" that isn't pre-sold to even test drive, but tired of waiting.

I was going to order that color for my 135i. My dealer had that color on a new 3 series checked it out very nice color but a bit dark for me as I live on a dirt road and the car is always dirty. Went with space gray instead. You should see the color in person since it reads differently in person compared to pics. It's not as reflective as I thought it would be compared to the space gray. Good luck with your choice and enjoy the car!

Thanks Andrew. Wow, $88,980?! I think the best part is where it says, "Drive Away No More to Pay."

I'm really on the fence with Mineral Grey cause while I may like a dark charcoal color, I'm not 100% sure it's a great color on THIS car. Different colors seem to show off and highlight the lines of cars differently and some of these colors seem hard to photograph how they truly look in real life.

So Mineral Gray must be the reprise of Sparkling Graphite Metallic that was only available in 2008.

Um, I think Sparkling Graphite is pretty close to Space Gray, maybe a hair darker, as I almost got Sparkling Graphite back in the day, but in person, it looked a little purpley for my taste.

The Mineral Grey is pretty dark. I'd say it's a dark charcoal. I'm trying to figure out if I like the color...but may not like the color on THIS car.

Looks like spage gray to me. There is a slight effect on the picture but I'm willing to bet it's space gray.

Sparkling Graphite is definitely darker with more of a charcoal color compared to Space Gray, though it can show a purple hue like you said under florescent lights. Here's a picture of my Sparkling Graphite 135 on the far right next to Space Gray in the middle, and Jet Black on the left.

This is the first I've heard of the Mineral Gray color, so I'm not exactly sure what it looks like.

135i in Mineral Grey

I'm generally liking the mineral grey - varies greatly depending on the lighting conditions.

Sometimes feel its a little too "mature" of a color for this car? If I could do it over again, I might go LeMans Blue.

Graphite is much darker than space gray.

Also graphite has purple red and blue metal flakes in it and will change hue depending on the lighting.

It is a fantastic color...one that cost bmw a lot of money to make. If I remember right it takes 25 layers to make the color.

This is graphite.

Thanks for your help everyone. Don't think you can ever go wrong with any of these colors, you just don't want to only "like" the one you pick and down the road kinda wish you'd gotten another color.

Nemco - I hear you on it maybe being too "mature" for the car. I saw it on a 135i but was in blaring sun, I had brown sunglasses on and had to shield my eyes from the sun, so wasn't a good gauge. The lemans is really pretty and the first 135i I ever saw in person back in March 2008 was Montego Blue and it was BEAUTIFUL. I don't think I could handle it as it was a bit much for ME, but it was definitely a looker. LeMans looks nearly identical to Montego.

I go back and forth on mineral, but think I will go drive the 45 minutes out to see the 135is a dealer has in mineral grey, as they also have a carbon black, which I would like to see in person as well. That is a dark horse that maybe in person wins me over, but for now I'm ordering with mineral grey. Stay tuned, and hopefully I'll be back on the forum more and back as a 135 owner after taking a turn to the dark side with the S5.

I just want to put my custom plates back on - 1FA KND

my e46 was silver and i love that dark dark grey- but something made me spring for a plain white car. it reminded me of a stripped down race car before the teams put the advertisements all over it. my dealer was so appalled and shocked that i wanted a manual 128i with no options except the m sports pack. i really think with that great bmw 6 going the way of the dodo, this thing'll be the last of the "real" bmw.

I agree with you on many accounts. I really don't like the direction BMW is going with the whole 2-series, 4-series, etc. Think they are throwing away decades of goodwill and brand/name recognition on the 3-series and M3, not to mention making that 4 car even bigger and more expensive. The 335 is even a lil big for my taste. That's why I want to snag one of the last 1's before they drive the company off the rails. Seeing what that new front looks like on the European 1's that no doubt will be the front of the new 2 is ugly to me and I want no part.

I'll try to take pics tomorrow as I'll be seeing a 135is in Mineral Grey as well as a Carbon Black one.

You may have the best insight into this question then. Would you say you prefer the mineral on the 135is over space? I think space gray looks unbelievable on the 335 and is the only color I'd get on that car, but for some reason it doesn't look as good to me on the 135. So, I'm curious if you think the mineral suits the lines of the 135is better.

Also, do you have any pics online already of your 135is? I'd love to see how it looks on the "is" with the contrasting mirrors and black grille slats.

Sounds like you have an amazing garage there. I'm jealous.

thanks! it'd be cool to see them-

i actually changed sales people at my dealer because my intitial guy was such a moron. he told me 1 series weren't made with manuals, that the 128i had a 4 cylinder engine- that it was front wheel drive----what else? i called him on it and said i don't really feel comfortable buying something from someone who doesn't know anything about the car- he told me i shouldn't expect him to know everything about every model because there were "over a hundred different bmw models".

i said that i also worked in sales and manage a bunch of people and if we don't know what the hell we are talking about, we don't lie- we say, "good question let's go find out!".....then i called a guy who i'd worked with years before- he still worked there and was no bullshit and let me order exactly what i wanted.
