BMW performance CF spoiler

Hi peeps. Lookings for some advice from some of you guys who are a bit more experienced with modding your rides.

I'm looking to pop a rear spoiler on my AW 123d when she arrives in November and have managed to find this on eBay.....

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CARBON-FIBER-B...item43a17c347c

BMW Performance sell this item for £280 over here and that's without fitting. The CF spoiler off eBay works out to £145 delivered and they say it takes only 10 mins to fit. Has anyone fitted one of these spoilers on their own and if so how difficult is it? Can I cock it up and ruin the car or is it simple enough for the average person to do??

PUR is most likely not carbon fiber. That spoiler comes from Taiwan, so it is a copy of the BMW one, since the price is lower than the BMW cost. Still, it might be ok. It just glues on with the 3m glue provided. I personally would rather have a dealer install it, but if it is a copy, they probably wouldn't want to try. I would stick with a real, factory BMW part, but the copies are often just fine.

PUR is polyurethane, basically another form of plasitc. It is NOT Carbon Fiber. The reason it is so cheap compared to the BMW OEM one is because PUR is made with plastic injection molding techniques.

My recommendation is to get the OEM BMW one, or get the iCarbon one since they are the only company that makes their carbon fiber pieces with the same manufacturing method as BMW.

Ho do BMW fit their CF spoiler. Are they simply glued/stuck on or bolted?

I have the BMW spoiler and it's awesome. worth every penny. very easy DIY, used a thread on this site to make it happen.

if you're looking to save a little cash.... check out iCarbon. I bought a couple of things from them, and while it took a little longer than I wanted to get them in my hands, they are really well-made CF pieces that match OEM BMW in quality and consistency.

cheers brother.

Very true on the quality part. The waiting part has been fixed. We now stock iCarbon products so they are available right away.
