Exclamation Akrapovic exhaust tips + Slek Rear diffuser fittment issue

I have a problem here with these two items ..

When I fitted the Akra exhausts with the Ti tips it was fine with the rear factory diffuser though it was rubbing a bit .

Now I have fitted the Slek rear CF diffuser, I cant put the Akra Ti tips as they are in direct contact with the diffuser and because it is a CF piece so its sensitive and prawn to braking .. and for this reason I can only drive the car without the akra tips which looks to some normal but IMO feels like somethings missing.. sure the Akra sound and valves and all works fine but aesthetically not as with the tips on..

Is this a Slek related issue or Akra ?

Any solutions to this ?

Most practical solution if you want to keep both the Akra exhaust and Slek diffuser and want to have peace of mind: get the Akra CF tips (normally not available as separate parts, but you have the Akra exhaust so give it a a try - "Sorry to say, but I damaged my tips during a reverse maneuver and need to replace these"): the inner ring layer of the CF tips gets hot (as normal exhaust tips do), unlike the outer ring layer (the CF bit). No heat danger for the CF diffuser. Otherwise stated, heat isolation by the outer ring.

this has been discussed previously. first, i think you need to re-install your exhaust. second, check the rubber hangers. someone, i cant recall who at the moment, contacted akra and got different rubber hangers and the problem was fixed.
try re-installing your exhaust-with the slek diffuser on first. if that doesnt work, i would suggest calling akra about different rubber hangers.
hope this helps
( i have the revo diffuser with full akra exhaust and titanium tips.)

@Artemis :

The issue here is not the looks but the fact that the tips are in direct contact with the diffuser .. and the diffuser, being a CF item, is a sensitive piece and with the vibration it will break and crack .. so fitting in a CF tip wont do any difference .. thanks for your input any ways .

@Mdawood : thats probably what ill do and check the guys at Akra .

Thanks guys.

@Mdawood / @Artemis

I looked at the threads you posted and searched and read about the issue,and it appears that the replacement rubber mounting is an OEM BMW piece .. but can anyone confirm its from a E82 135i ?

Perhaps @papethova can confirm this ?

So according to @///M1 's post,

The replacement rubber mounts are factory E82 135i units .. I double checked and placing an order from my dealer .. I hope I can resolve this issue soon.

Sorry my car has been in storage since February. I have been busy with other projects and I havent even had a chance to put tips on the exhaust yet. Itll be another 3-4 weeks atleast until I can even get to my car.

@papethova

No problem ..

I got a reply from the guys at Akrapovic claiming that the exhaust system and tips are made to fit factory spec cars .. I just fear that even with the new rubber mounts it will still touch the diffuser ..

fingers crossed !

do you have the part number for the rubber mounts? Did you have to replace both muffler mounts? Was the issue with vertical clearance between the top of the tips and the diffuser?

Check the number on the right hand side of the upper picture:
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...3&postcount=64
Compare with part #6 on this diagram:

Even if it those were fluorescent yellow with pink polka dots: when a grizzly bear growls, you don't care about the shape/color of his teeth, I guess.

thanks Artemis!
To the OP - not to be a killjoy but check your diffuser/exhaust tips in a couple days. From pictures I've seen the SLEK diffuser has less clearance than the vorsteiner (what I have). On my vorsteiner with Akra slip on, I have ~ 8mm vertical clearance between the top of the exhaust tips and the diffuser, but there was still some marring of my carbon tips and diffuser. For now I have placed some 3M rubber pads on those areas to eliminate contact between the tips and diffuser. If that does not work I will probably swap out the rubber hanger mounts.

FYI the part number for the 135i rubber mounts is 18207578238 #6 in this diagram http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...71&hg=18&fg=20
