Finally replaced the Run Flats - It's a new car!
After 3-1/2 years and 18,000 miles of spine jarring, no road feel driving, I am pleased to say that the new Hankook Ventus V12's make the car feel smooth and nicer to drive. I can feel the road through the steering wheel, the handling is much better and it is just a better all around ride. You don't thunk as hard over every pothole and manhole cover in the road. It is also so much more responsive. It's like I have a new car all over again!
I had an alignment done (the shop said it was off quite a bit), and I went up a size to 225x40 and 255x35. I have them inflated to 39 psi which seems great so far. Very pleased with the tires and the service from Tire Rack. |

Congratulations and welcome to the non runflat club.
I recently replaced my OEM M Sport wheels with Alufelgen SF-71s and I also went with the Hankooks on my new wheels. I purchased my tires from Tirerack too. The Hankooks do make the car ride a lot better than the runflats, and my wheels and tires are 19s instead of 18s.

This is my third set of Hankooks (on three different vehicles). They are great tires for the money. They provide good performance in both the wet and dry, have good mileage ratings, they ride good and they are quiet. They also finished 2nd in the last Car and Driver performance tire comparison.

This is the same set up I decided to go with (Hankook Ventus V12 225/40, 255/35)! I'm getting them put on Monday, I'll let everyone know how I like them! I am so excited!

I upgraded yesterday aswell! OMG! I can plant my foot RIGHT down now and it won't lose traction. I went for Michelin pilot super sport 225/40 front, 255/35 rear.
The guy I went to recommended going for 40PSI. But yes what a new car! |

After considering the price of the Hankooks, plus the great reviews I read on line plus the Car and Driver Test Results I chose the Hankooks. |

When the Hankooks wear out get some Michelin PSSs. They are to the Hankooks what the Hankooks are to runcraps.

If you read the reviews on discount tire and the tire rack web site- a few people think so, however I think the 35 and 40 profile tires we use does not highlight this. For example, many Corvette drivers absolutley love this tire, Porsche and BMW drivers seem to be 3 to 1 in favor.
Certainly for regular street driving, there is no feel of soft sidewall, track use might be different. There is a pronounced better ride along with much improved road feel. They may not be everyones choice. Here is what Car and Driover said about them in 2009. Also, it rains a lot here in Vancouver - so wet performance was also high on my list. The V12`s rate very well in the wet. “Deceptively quick” is a good summation of the Hankook Ventus V12 Evos because they often didn’t feel as strong as they actually were, particularly in the dry. Their fourth-place autocross time wasn’t spectacular, but they did outlap the benchmark Michelin PS2s. Geswein said the Hankooks felt “somewhat soft” and “imprecise,” although they were forgiving, yielding consistent laps with no surprises. Despite that feeling of softness, the V12 Evos somehow managed a second-place skidpad run of 0.93 g and were above average in braking. Hankook just launched a new extreme-performance Ventus R-S3 model, which wasn’t available in time for this test but likely has sharper dry responses. In the wet, however, the V12s were as sporty and connected as they come, with grip second only to the PS2s’ and the best braking. The Hankooks were extremely consistent, likely because they were so well-behaved, which made them easy to drive quickly. Subjectively, they felt the best around the track, even though their time trailed slightly behind the Dunlops’. With above-average wet and dry performances, and tying for quietest on the street loop, the V12 Evo is an impressive and well-rounded summer tire. And, at $106, it’s a bargain, too |
