Wheel Will Not Go On.. Anyone had similar issue?
So I am putting my stock 261 wheels back on and the back passenger side absolutely will not fit. The middle thing (not quite sure what its called) seems like it is too big for the rim to slide over. I noticed all of the stock rims have a little bit of a bump on the inside of them where they meet while the aftermarket Forgestar ones do not.
Anyways I cant figure out for the life of me why this one corner wont go on tried multiple of the stock wheels and all the same problem. I attached an example photo to see what I am talking about. Any thoughts? |

If it's a rusty hub ring just clean it up and try again. Dunno what else it could be.

Axle Hub Assembly
I guess the part is the axle hub ring, specifically the lip on it. Should I lightly sand it down maybe? I used a mallet to try to get the wheel to go on and some acidic cleaner to get any residue/rust off still no avail.

Good advice, still not cutting it though. Going to sand, then dremel, if still no just ordering a new hub assembly only ~$45, and hope that does it.

If you were able to get it off, you should be able to get it back on.
Hit it with a wire brush and sandpaper until the rust is all gone, then a generous coat of anti-seize on the hub and the hub of the wheel.

I have had that happen on another brand of car. I enlarged the wheel instead of the hub. Sometimes it is both but the wheel is easier because it is made of aluminum alloy. Most of the time it is just crud and rust from the road. The difference between of fitting or not is only .1000 of an inch!

Forgestars have a very thin metal wheel centering ring that sometimes sits on the hub after you take off the wheel. If you leave this on the hub the stock wheels won't fit. When I looked at your picture it looks like this ring is still on the hub. Penetrating oil, tap with rubber mallet, and then pry evenly around the hub. Do this prying from the back closest to the brake disk. You should be good to go then.
And yes. Anti seize always in the future.

Have you cleaned up the steel insert on the wheel as well?

A tenth of an inch? Did you mean a thousandth? Surely you're not saying there's a tenth of an inch of buildup. As heeltoe stated, it's probably the ring. |

My bad! You have some bad problems if it's a tenth of an inch! To much drinking last night!

Go to town with that wire brush, and be generous with the anti-seize.

Just got at this today. 100% right there were rings on it, didn't even notice it on the other ones they were on pretty tight and blended enough not to warrant another look. Also made an investment in some anti seize so case closed.
