HKS SS BOV

Hey, not sure if this has been covered somewhere before, but I am curious as to what is necessary to install this BOV on my stock 1er? Looked at pics of it installed on **********s page, looks like a larger SS pipe but not sure if its a specific pipe or what.

Really just looking for general information about this, specially from anyone who has one installed, i know the idea behind it is rather then recirculate the old air like with DV's it expels it, however what are the pros and cons of either setup. Really, this valve looks to me to be the highest quality of the BOV's available for the 1er.

I have it..you need to buy a charge pipe that is made for the HKS blow off valve flange. For example i got my pipe from Ultimate Racing. i recommend HKS because of the design..the more the boost the better the seal

The only difference between DV's and Blow off valve is the sound of the bov. there is no difference in terms of performance..

Um, so all the stuff Ive been reading about the major difference between DV's and BOV's was wrong...?

Diverter valves 'Divert' the already charged air back thru the turbos which in turn has no chance of leakeage however can lack performance especially with higher boost because its reusing the charged air. Whereas BOV's expel the charged air when boost reaches its peak and the turbos will use fresh air to charge all the time which results in less lag and much higher levels of max boost pressure to be reached before power is leveled out. Also the BOV due to its design has much less of a chance of tearing or breaking due to boost pressure. Only usual con with this is the possibility of leakage due to the open designs of BOV's.

I may not explain it as well as others but yes there IS performance differences, not JUST the noise. Why the hell would you think drivers all over the world would be going from DV's to BOV's and vice versa if not JUST for the noise?

Anyways, this thread is really just to get ideas of how this valve works. When you say you bought ur charge pipe from Ultimate, did they make you a pipe specific to the HKS valve or do they already have one for sale?

Man you are charged up...lol...of course they function differently i didn't even think you were referring to the way they operate...but if you think having a BOV gives you more "performance"..good for you...i wont argue with you about unused air..ultimate racing has pipes for sale check out their website

Ok, how loud exactly is the HKS? Is it like ricer little honda with basketball-sized BOV loud, or just loud nuff not to sound excessive?

i have the hks bov from U R too but i would recommand u go with Evo racewerks they can make their charge pipes with HKS fit, just need to email them or find them here at the forum, reason is they have proven their charge pipes with their team racing 1er, and it does not POP OFF or have any boost leak, i got the stock 1 and the HKS, so far so good but the moment i have boost leak im buying the charge pipe from Evo racing with the hks flange u can also tell them to make it to clear room for aftermarket intake such as injen because its f-ing tight in the engine bay once u got the BOV install.

the charge pipe the bov is solid but because the design on UR charge it could leak in teh future, if u look at Evo racing the charge is made all once piece metal so u know there will be no chance of leaking.
