Well you can add this to the mix, although I know they are notorious for breaking, Im going to partially blame this one on the really cold and snowy weather we have been having. I just noticed this today.

Only had the car for a week but mine is the lack of/placement of an interior door handle. I can't believe that wasn't noticed in the design phase. I came from a 3 series and I'm constantly grabbing for a handle that doesn't exist.

The other thing that annoys me is that with power seats of even Premium Package, the power seats don't retract when the ignition is switched off. Sure it's a coupe but almost never I never carry anyone in the back, so why isn't it at least a programmable option unlike every other car I have had the last 20 years (all 4 door sedans) where it is standard? But I am now trained to manually slide it back. Makes up for the automatic clutch, I guess.
I think this is because its a coupe and to avoid injuring passengers that might be in the back seat. Atleast this is the explanation Infiniti gave me when i asked them the same question. The g37S coupes dont adjust seat or steering wheel but the sedans do.

brake dust is going to be the same on any bmw. The RFT's on the 18" wheels are pretty brutal though. Roll over the wrong piece of roadway and you're gonna know it. I kinda wish they'd go back to the Continentals.

The startup gong is horrible also

I switch between my 328i and 128i all the time and never noticed any difference in the handle placement. But the very long reach to adjust the mirrors in the 3 is quite annoying when compared to the 1.

My biggest complaint is how BMW treats the car in their lineup. They refuse to let it have it's own identity, first with the 2002 comparisons back in 08 and now the E30 M3 juxtaposition with the 1M.

It's like they think that the 1er is Eli Manning. Only here because his dad and his brother brother are so good...but dammit Eli has a superbowl ring too and he's a good quarterback on his own merit ...just like the 135 is a good car on it's own.

I upgraded to Cool Carbon pads... might have cost me $150 per axle or so but it's gonna save me like 10x that in P21s or Sonax wheel cleaner. HUGE difference.

Brake Dust - but since I've started using the AA wheel protectant I dont have this issue any longer. i can go 4 weeks + and the wheels STILL look clean as long as it doesnt rain.

Seriously this stuff is worth every penny.

Good grief, life is rough in these BMW's huh?
That was when 'base model' meant base model... no carpet, no radio, no AC, 2 speeds of wiping. Points and condensers that had to be replaced or burnished... distributor caps and rotors - setting the timing with a timing light... setting the mixture and idle speed on the carb.

12 month, 10,000 mile warranties

And people complain because their corner lights are yellow!

The transmission downshifting to slow the car down going down hills. It makes the car rev hurting the cas milage.
The lame 17" ugly wheels that come with the M Package.

The lower the gear the more engine braking. Which you obviously already know.

But I'm pretty sure it burns no fuel in that condition. So don't worry about it.

Here's a little write-up from Popular Mechanics:

The more engine braking, the more you're saving your brake pads

Not real concerend about the pads as I won't be paying for them. I just don't like pressing on the gas to go downhil. Seems weird.
My last car was a 2007 328i with the same motor and transmission. The car weighs 300lbs more and I always got a couple more miles to the gallon. It didn't have that feature.
