Who in the US has M-Sport Kit?
I saw a few people post about their M-sport kits. Apparently this kit is available here in the US except it is not widely advertised on BMWUSA.com.
So, those who have ordered this kit, can you please respond in this thread? Where you ordered from, what you ordered (front/rear bumpeer, front lips, or CF rear spoiler even), and how much you paid for the whole thing. (and of course, photos are welcome too!!) Mainly this is to help me (and any other forum member) get things cleared up on the availablility/pricing of the M-sport kit in US. -hkj |

I actually prefer the look of the normal E90 SE as opposed to the E90 M-Sport cars. The rear of the car looks terrible with the M-Sport kit as does the front. I hope the E92's M-Sport kit is a lot better. If not, I'd rather go for an aftermarket kit.

It's available in the US only as separate pieces though, not the entire M package (wheels, black headliner, steering-wheel, shifter, etc...) right?
That said, BMWWheels told me they expect to get the M-Sport wheels in at some point. The M-Sport shifter is available and worthwhile, IMO. The steering-wheel seems redundant with the latest 330i sport-package version so sort of moot unless you're obsessive about M-logos. So that leaves the headliner and other possible bits (doorsills?) as unavailable. Which begs the issue, is using M-Sport stuff assembled post-sale authentic M-Sport or do you just have a normal 3er with some M bits stuck on? The bodywork still needs to get painted so it's not a 'factory' job (I do realize that the M parts are not installed at the factory but are done at PDI). That said, if I finance rather than lease I'm considering the M nose, shifter, and wheels if it's not $$$$$ to pull together.

BTW I'm only interested in the front and rear bumper, the rear diffuser, and maybe the front lips. Quote:

I went down to the dealer and they quoted 3500 Euro (without taxes) to add Body Kit, Headliner, doorsills, m handle brake, m steering wheel and 193 wheels. |

Anyone tried to get the alcantara/shadow blue interior as an add-on? I imagine that would be immensely difficult. Is that something that could be handled by Individual? Probably not if it's in the purview of M.

So to put this into better words, you have never seen an msport wheel in person. There are some obvious changes to these two steering wheels (I would know since Ive had both...). 1. Increased thickenss in the wheel. One of the more noticeable features... 2. Wheel is 'cushier' or more spongy. Much more comfortable than the stock wheel. 3. Perforated leather makes it a little more grippy, and the leather breathes better. Its something you notice every time you drive. Notice how some of the main features do not say anything about the ///M logo... Also, for the msport shift knob. It is a shorter knob, therefore the shift throw is greatly reduced. It is also weighted, and has a much better feel than the stock knob. Honestly, you might want to do some more reading on these parts before you generalize about them.... |

Bavarian, et al: Chill on the steering-wheel... I merely suggested that it 'seems similar'. It's not, as you've clarified, so we're done. Now, if there's a link to the detailed discussion on the differences of all the M-Sport parts, I'm sure I as well as others would happy to read it. [Goes off to do some searches] Finally, to clarify, I have seen the shifter thread, hence my deduction that the mod "is worthwhile" as I opined in my original post... a post which was meant as a purely casual extension of the M-Sport conversation should one want to replicate the entire package on their car beyond the exterior parts (and has apparently steered the OP's intent of the thread off course, my apologies). The reason I bring up the whole lease vs buy thing is the nature of the modifications. In the EU I assume you can lease a M-Sport'ed 3er no problem (isn't the M a 'factory' option?). But here in the US would the same OEM parts be viewed as aftermarket and therefore troublesome at lease-end?

So, it looks like Rostik is the only forum member in US that got the M-sport parts? And he only got the rear bumper.
I am not sure why this option/accessory is not promoted by BMWUSA since ostensibly they had plans to market the M-sport kits quite a bit ago (based on images Jason posted) I assume if they puts more PR efforts on this a lot of ZSP buyers would shell out a couple grands for the kits for it's sporty look. Also I had a chance to check out the M steering wheel (thnx to fellow forum member hsiaochinsan). It's pretty nice. A bit thicker than the standard sports steering wheel, and wrapped in peforated leather. Pretty nice and feels very sporty. Anyway I'm gonna call a few dealerships' parts department to find out what's going on with the kit... -hkj |
