Some think the 1er Coupe' is small... I think the 3er Coupe' is HUGE.

I think the 1-Series Coupe' will come out to be a very nicely sized car.

Whats your take on it???

+1 000 000

When I saw my first 1er coupe, it was standing on the floor next to a 3 series coupe. The 3er looked SSSSSOOOOOOO BBBIIIIIGGGGG in comparison.

I really love the size of the 1er. Those that think the 1er is to small are more than welcome to take the bigger car and miss out on all the fun we will be having (granted some may not have the option and require fully functional rear seats).

Yes, the 3 series coupe is huge compared to 1 coupe but have you realized the e46 weights the same that the 1 coupe.
That´s very sad, 1470 kg for such a small car is inapropiate

Believe me, you really don't want to raise the weight question again or you will get flamed. That horse is long dead as this topic has been discussed ad nauseum on this site.

I have actually seen it in person, so I know it's the perfect size for me-- it's about the size of the VW EOS or Honda Civic.

And yet the 335i is only 9 inches longer and a little over 1 inch wider than the 1er coupe.
So the 1er is 95% of the length of a 3er coupe and almost 99% of the width.
For those who think the 1er too small, what would have been the ideal size of the 1er??? :iono:

I was hoping it'd be larger than a civic, preferably around the size of an Accord coupe or so. Honestly, if it really is civic sized, I'm probably going to be convinced to get an Evo.

If it was it would be called a 3.

sooooo basically you just want a 3 series but for 5 grand less??? Plus Im pretty sure youre going to have about the same if not more room in the 135i than the Evo.

Ha that is funny! What is it with people thinking the one series is too small? Get a 3 series then. If you can't afford one then BMW is not the car for you. I don't think BMW has any intentions of competing with Civics, Lancers, or Imprezas. If size is an issue then go look at the Infiniti G37. If you are looking for less expensive then get a GTI. I think the people at BMW know what they are doing from a business standpoint. I believe BMW's target market is to buyers like us who know what we want in a car and understand the value and sportiness that the One series brings to us. I don't understand the logic of some people.

The Honda Accord, almost by definition, is designed to please the widest possible cross-section of automotive shoppers. So I'm using the Accord as a benchmark for size only. Below are the basic dimensions compared to the 135i. Except for the Accord Coupe being 19.2" longer (yes, substantially longer) and offering 1.2" more front headroom, they are very similar in other dimensions. Is it smaller? Yes. Thank God, 'cause I don't want to drive an Accord-sized car.

I've also included the new WRX STi. More headroom than both Accord and STi, so it's clearly better for the taller guys. 2.1" longer and 2.1" higher than the 135i.

Draw your own conclusions and make your own comparisons, but the 1er doesn't seem all that small, if you ask me. Just small enough... But, unless you're 6'4" or need to stuff a couple of adults in the back and put camping gear in the trunk, I don't see how size could be an issue. But if you're preference is for a bigger car, get a 3er or a 5er and stop whining...

In my situation, we have a minivan for all the family stuff. The 1er just has to accomodate me, my brief case, gym bag, golf clubs and the occassional toddler or two in the back (when the minivan isn't avaialble) and/or wife in the front. I'm only 5,6" and 165lbs, so I'll fit just fine...

2008 Honda Accord Coupe:
Length: 190.9"
Width: 72.8"
Height: 56.4"
Headroom (front seats): 39.1"
Headroom (rear seats): 35.9"

2008 WRX STi:
Length: 173.8"
Width: 70.7"
Height: 58.1"
Headroom (front seats): 40.3"
Headroom (rear seats): 37.6"

2008 135i Coupe:
Length: 171.7"
Width: 68.8"
Height: 56.0"
Headroom (front seats): 37.9"
Headroom (rear seats): 37.1"

^ the reviews so far seem to indicate that the boot is a good size. Good enough for two golf bags. Skis will be a snap if you fold the rear seat down, or get the ski bag.

I'd bet that a bike would fit with the seats down and the front wheel removed from the fork.

I've stood next to both. The 1er doesnt seem that much smaller except for the length. The 335i is not that big if you're standing next to one.

thanks for clearing that up. I couldn't imagine the car that people complain about being too small was actually wider.
