Cheaper car parts?

Hi,

Somene kindly smashed my driver side morror the other day. The housing is fine, just the mirror glass is broken. So I called a dealer for a part price - he told me to sit down. Over a thousand bucks!??

This is clearly ridiculous. Any ideas of a cheaper way to source parts?

Cheers

These are the old oval mirrors. Unsure of your model, sorry! But probably around 200 bucks.

Anyone know why there's usually more than 1 part number to one single part?
Say part '1' from the link above? How do i know which to order?

You need to put the assembly together. So you'll have 7 mini parts that will make up a mirror, for example. You need to match parts 1-7 with what you have in your car (hence the numbers and descriptions) and off you go

Great thanks. Can you actually buy from realoem or is it just an indication of price?

You can definitely buy!

I'm thinking of the iPhone snap-in adapter. I got a special quote for it yesterday and they responded within 12 hours. 60 GBP!

Just an update.

I have ordered the part from bmminiparts.com for a mere GBP 66.00 - about 100 aud delivered. The best price I could find from a dealer in Sydney was $285.

The trick is to get the part number from your dealer, as the website can be confusing with so many variations around the world for the same part.

Cheers for he help guys.
