I'd say it's time you put on your negotiation hat, I want the wheels painted (if you do of course) I want windows tinted (if you do of course) I want the performance grills and pedals, and anything else you can think of, performance steering wheel, performance seats ( $7000 worth).
You are in the drivers seat cause you ain't getting a new car! Good luck and sorry to hear the dramas. |

All of the above but most of all, go and see your car in its current 'damaged' state. They can't refuse you. After you have seen it, calmly say you're not happy and let them squirm around you and if you want to, discuss the sweeteners. They will come to the party quickly as all dealers hanging out for positive post-sale feedback. Sorry to hear your frustration, good luck mate. |

Thanks everyone for your input...
Will await their report on what exactly was the damage... The only problem I envisage is that they have mentioned it was damaged caused by government authorities and therefore, I have no leverage? |

BS, you are buying a BRAND NEW CAR, not a repaired car for over $100,000! |

mate, don't wait. don't wait for any report or feedback. your car should already be at your dealer or panel shop. just rock up and see for yourself. stop their BS and help yourself get some sleep between now and delivery!

I'm sceptical of this claim that it was damaged by "government employees".
AFAIK, BMW's supply chain from the ship to the dealer is operated by private companies like TNT automotive logistics. When the cars drive off a ship I think they go into a bonded storage area run by a private company. So no "government employees" ever touch the car, other than the small possibility that a customs officer inspects it. My guess is that a TNT driver (or equivalent) has damaged the car while moving it around the wharf area.

I'd demand to see the car and evaluate the damage for yourself. |

Just got off the phone to from a friend of mine who's a dealer principle for another manufacturer...
He basically confirmed what NPV has said that after release from port its in BMW's hands, not the governments. Will be taking this up with the dealer.. Many thanks for your contributions again |

Hi Jaffa,
Saw the car today for the first time in its "fixed" state. Basically took ~ 4 weeks from arrival at port to dealer...Anyone else here have had or have heard of such a lengthy delay? Regarding seeing the actual damage, dealer said last week that even BMW Australia wouldn't let them see the damage... Salesman was busy at the time and will be going in tmr to "negotiate". Gonna try to get them to paint my wheels black.. Hope all goes well.. Will update Cheers |

Met with the dealer today... happy with the outcome..
Getting wheels painted by their authorized panel beater for $500 and they will organize before I take delivery. Original price I got from their panel beater before all these issues arose was $1200... All in all, still very happy with West Coast BMW, would recommend to any1 |

The Fat Lady is Singing
Checked the logistics site and the 1M count remains 301.
Looks like it's really finished.

Build date was 26th June, arrived in the country on the 22nd August and it has taken two dealers battling out the $ to finally get it released.
Trading in a E60 M5 V10, so am looking forward to some TT power and flick able sideways action! |
