1 coupe Supersport?? M Coupe??

No doubt everyone had see the latest news. Who would ditch their one and swap it over? What extras it has got before you would consider?

I would seriously think about it if it has a LSD, better suspension.

I'd have to consider the price difference and if it was worth it. Most probably not though. I'd rather wait and trade for the new 135i in 2011/12.

Im holding on the my 1er for a long time. Having one of only about 2500 2008 135i verts in the States is too cool of a feeling to pass up.

That being said if it is a decent price a new M Coupe (which is what they will call it IMO) will definently be on the list of possiblilities for a new car out of Uni.

Do you know if it's coming so soon? Usually a lifespan of 7 years is the norm which means it wouldn't be out till around 2015. Maybe the new Hatch will be out in 2011/12?

Would love to upgrade, but so soon after the 135... would lose so much money! If I were to upgrade, it would need suspension, and 0-100 in under 4.8 seconds. And the looks to set it apart.

One thing sure is if supersport version is true then it will hurt M3, unless they only do minor tune to normal 135i which I think existing owners won't bother to trade. Intersting to see how they fit this to their marketing strategy.
Personally more interest in X1 which will come soon...

That might work perfect - as some 135i owners will trade to the new coupe, and M3 owners finally seeing a true M3 successor and trade down. I would say pricing would be close to the original M3 price though, may be a little bit less.

????? Highly unlikely. I could see an E46 M3 owner trading but not a E9x M3 owner. Live with the E9x M3 for a while and you'll never part with that S65 V8! I doubt even I could part with it for the speculated turbo-6 next-gen M3. I would however consider the next-gen M3 if it had a twin-turbo V8.

I think the typical V8 M3 buyer isn't after a small uncompromising sports car the likes of the original M3. Today's M3 is about being a fast comfortable Luxurious GT that can also show it's teeth on the track if required. But all out track suitable car it definitely isn't. This is a big difference to the original M3. I reckon BMW will differentiate this 1 series M by making it a stripped out M car, more akin to the CSL. That way it will not tempt anyone interested in a M3. Afterall, BMW has confirmed many times that they won't be making a M3 CSL. Only question remains in my head is, what engine will it come with?

Maybe it'll have the rumoured 2 litre(?) motor that the rumoured tii was supposed to have? As you say, it may be a stripped down CSL-spec car low on weight with a high power:weight ratio?

I cannot see BMW producing a 1-series car that would threaten sales of it's hero car, the M3.

If the 135i Supersport has the upgraded N54 and is lightweight like the E46 M3 CSL, I can see more resemblance between the 135i Supersport and the original E36/E46 M3's. The E90/92 M3 is nothing like it's predecessors whereas the 135i is small nimble 6 cylinder. I think the E90/E92 M3 is an amazing car, but it's a different animal altogether and in a different league as well.

BMW 86, the original M3 is the E30, which is almost identical in size as our 135i, and is a light weight. It's also a 4 cylinder. That was my reference point, not the E36/46...

i'd be interested in one but it would have to be priced cheaper than the M3 and not much more than the 135i... so $100k??
problem is by that stage E92 M3 second hand would be close to that mark
