cfalzon, in Canda adaptive is not included in 325's but is in 330's. So best bet is to check your country's BMW website or the local dealers.

and I think Stew is talking about trunk monkeys

I don't think adaptives are standard anywhere other than the US. I would check with your dealer! Congrats on ordering a car...the 330d is awesome!

Have to admit, this whole adaptive thing is starting to confuse me. I assume "adaptive" to mean the articulating headlights that help light up the area you are heading in when turning. What confuses me most is many in the automotive press who say things like "adaptive headlights are a first for the E90"; well, I have them in my '02 E46. Can someone clarify?

I'm guessing by "adative headlights are a first for the E90", they meant adaptive headlights are being offered for the first time on the 3 series, not that E90 is the first car that offers adaptive headlights

Your '02 E46 did not have adaptive, but it has self-levelling headlights to prevent glare to oncoming drivers (which is quite advanced for back then, considering that other luxury car makers didn't have it).

You see, before they had Adaptive Bi-Xenon headlamps (in earlyish E46's) - these were adaptive in the way that they would move up and down (to not blind other drivers)

Then, we they decided on making the adaptive (see around corner) Xenons - they renamed the others to self leveling.

So on your E90 - you have self leveling, adaptive (see around corner) Xenons. (If you are in the US)

I just have self leveling Xenons

Only if your 02 E46 is a post Facelift Coupe. Only on those the E46 had )optional) adaptive Xenons

The E90 missed being the first car to have adaptive headlights by about 48 years.

the Tucker Torpedo had them back in 1948

Guys, is xenon the same as HID? I have a 330i and thought i had xenon, but the beams look more yellow instead of the bright white/purple that i like.

Interesting, thanks for the clarification; seems like something I should've known.

That pretty well explains why I could never tell if the lights were really turning with the car.
