I have just upgraded my audio and would like to share with you all. Equipment as follows:-

1 audiocontrol LC 6 (kept the headunit)
1 morel 3 way elate 6 speakers (6"woofer at the bottom of the seats)
1 105W X 4 steg amplifier (bi-amped)

This is the 1st stage, only upgraded the front. Next stage is to change the rears and add another amp to drive it.

Got it from the authorised dealer in Hong Kong. Should be available in europe as well. Try this website www.moreleurope.com

Two channels from the amp drive the 6" woofers and another two drives the mid and tweeter. All using the morel 3 way crossover unit.

Very nice and clean, you can still use the trunk space.

Yes. the installer used a separate board to hold the amp and the power capacitor. Parallel to the back seats and only took up about 2 inches. So, plenty of trunk space available.

How much did the woofers cost. Did you have to modify the enclosure for them to fit?

To secure the woofer, the installer had to make a separate wooden bracket about 1 inch thick. Thus, the original bmw cover could not close. Instead, he used morel's enclosure. The carpet is a bit untidy as the bmw cover is used to hold the carpet into place but it's not noticeable since it's underneath the seats.

You wouldn't notice any difference unless you kneel down and look underneath the seats.

The woofers are part of the 3way front system. It's not a separate woofer system.

Hey, R u powering ur rear speakers?? and could u describe in detail please what the LC6 does as opposed to an LC8 or an EQX.

Yes. I've just upgraded the rears as well. The only difference between LC6 and LC8 are as follows :-

LC8 has the summing capabilities. That is, if the head unit has a crossover and has output signals for the tweeter and woofer separately, LC 8 can sum the output speaker signals and provide a low level full range output to the amps. (No use for those who has the standard 6 speaker setup or the hifi 10 speaker setups)

LC8 also has additional output channels.

The EQX as I understand it is an equaliser and can also accept speaker level signals. Thus, you would be able to choose between the EQX and the LC6.
