Angry September Software Upgrade - Dealer Doesn't Know About It.

When I made appointment this week to have oil change, 6,000 km, SA told me they have to perform a software update.
I assumed it was the September update that has been posted here and Bimmerfest and I was going to post results.
SA told me it would take approx 1 hr. and that I could wait for it.
When I got there today, she said it would take approx. 5 hrs and gave me a loaner car.
I also asked if the Red Light (Clowns Nose) could be programmed to flash when the doors are locked.
She said she would find out, but she had never heard about doing this before.
When I got back to get the car, I was informed no update was performed as the car didn't require one.
I asked for and received a copy of the Service Information Bulletin they were referring to.
It is as follows:
Engine Electrical 12w 09 05 which supersedes S1 61 82 05
SUBJECT: Program Control Units - OBD Interface
E90 3 Series Sedan
She told me this had been performed before I took delivery.
They have never heard about a September Software Update.
Why the car had to be there for 5 Hours is a mystery.
She also told me there is no LED in the Clowns Nose and when I asked how it works with the alarm system, she said they have to replace the Rear View Mirror. (you can see the LED in the red housing)
At least the Oil Change was performed at $125.00 CDN
Sure doesn't give one confidence in their service department.
I have never met a knowledgeable SA yet (Chrysler, BMW, Acura)
I will keep watching this board and Bimmerfest and when the upgrade is confirmed to be at the Canadian dealers, I will call them with the Service Information Bulletin Number, I hope!!

That update was just for certain cars that wouldnt let non-bmw equipment use its OBD port.

She sounds like a clown
Is she a Actual Service person, or just the lady that sits at the desk and recieves cars ?

Why can't Servise Advisors be Certified Mechanics who know somehing about the vehicles?

Since you live in Barrie, did you go to Newmarket dealer?
I am planning to go soon for Key Memory seat/mirrors programming and fix a rattle.
Btw, do your Key Memory works (seat and mirrors will go back to programmed position when opening the door, without pushing the memory button)?

wait... you have to pay for your oil change? Isn't that cover under the warranty? I also called my sales person and he doesn't know anything about the update neither.

First scheduled oil change is at 24,000 KM which is paid for by BMW.
I paid for a "Non-scheduled" oil change.
I own my car, not leased, and plan on keeping it for at least 6 years so I figure it is cheap insurance to chang the oil after break in.
