Adjusting sound levels of chimes, warnings, etc. ?
Aloha, everyone, hope this is the right place to post this.
I just took delivery of my 2012 135i coupe and noticed that the various interior chimes, warnings, and such, including the sound of the turn signal, are pretty loud. Is there any way to adjust the sound level of these things? I've RTFM but haven't been able to find anything on this. Any guidance would be appreciated. Hope I can turn these things down. Best to all, 2012_135i |

Chances are good, either in iDrive (can't tell you where because I don't have it) or in the "professional" head unit, you can adjust it.
In my non iDrive car, it is an option in the head unit in the same place (but second page, scroll right) as bass, treble, balance, fader, etc. That said, even on the lowest setting, it's still obnoxiously loud. I'm considering disabling some of them via a custom coding hack from a local aftermarket shop.

While I doubt it is user adjustable, you might try operating the dash or steering wheel volume control while the chime is ringing. This method will adjust the volume for Navi voice instructions.

On my non idrive car there is an option on the head unti to adjust the gong level. The op hasn't said whether he has idrive so it's hard to advise.

The "gong" volume setting, for non idrive, is in the bass/treble/fader secnd page... just scroll over. Now the question is - does it actually adjust? I've dropped mine as low as possible and as high as possible.. both volume settings are the same. Maybe I should bring it in and have BMW figure it out. (BTW, I have a 2011 135)

For iDrive cars it's under TONE Settings.

I just read an article in the search that says the US spec cars have the volume settings for the "gong" disabled. You can adjust the settings all day but nothing happens. :-/ I'm not sure if this is also true on the idrive models but seems to be true for the non-idrive.
