Auxiliary audio not available on the radio ?

I have an Auxiliary audio input in my car (118D) but when pressing the "mode" button on the radio he switches only between radio and CD.
The aux function does not work.

Any ideas?

Do you have anything plugged into the Aux jack?

Unplug and reset the auxiliary device and it should recognise and hook it up to the audio system. Mine has done this with an iPod.

I have tried it with my mp3 player plugged in and without anything plugged in. It makes no difference.

How am I supposed to unplug the auxiliary device? --> Taking the radio out?
Is there a reset button on the radio?

As long as there is a device plugged in, it should recognize it.

As I took my 128i in for it's first free oil change - at one year - it goofed up for the first time on the radio. I keep a Garmin GPS plugged into the aux port all the time. Suddenly, it would not recognize it. I tried plugging and unplugging the Garmin and nothing changed. I don't know if that's what it was but they pulled up a code off my key when I got to the dealer and reprogrammed the car. It did the same stupid routine one time since. Shutting the car off and restarting it resolved it that time.

I think there's a bug in the car's computer. Fortunately it doesn't happen often.
