We can run tuning but the boost is set to a limit, most probably the overboost level.

can't wait to see the finished product! so, is this a 1M chassis or a 1-series? i noticed that there's rust forming on the metal strip near the front windshield (at least i think that's what i'm seeing). if it's a 1M frame, why choose that over a cheaper 1-series frame? they should be identical once the fender fabrication is made for larger wheel diameters.

I don't know enough to say too much but I believe this car is going to enter into stock class so pretty much very little modification is allowed. Also the 1M subframes and suspensions are from the M3. I guess modding it will make it to be in a different class?

This car if I have been reading the forums correctly is the one that TG Australia has crashed .

The car is being prepared for a production based series, so modifications are very limited.
The suspension, subframes are M3 as sparoz states.

It is the car TG crashed.

Hi Waldo, Gazz here. I saw this car and I guess it's no secret that it is Berrick Lynton's. Did you get a pic of the roll bar built into the B pillar and presumably extending over the roof. This is the standard bar and I'm wondering if it is incorporated into all 1 series if not all BMWs?

As far as mods are concerned I don't know much about it but there are quite a few things that can be done. For instance, and I hope I've got this right, the rules allow for a 20mm variation in the position of the engine fore and aft. Well this can and will be exploited by moving the engine 20mm aft even though it may require a lot of work. Full balance and "blueprint" ( wink wink nudge nudge ). Etc etc. It's all the myriad details that go into these cars that makes the difference between a production car and a production racing car.
Personally I think that though it has an advantage with the M3 underpinnings it may be at a disadvantage aerodynamically against, say, the 335i from the BMW team. Particularly at Bathurst.

That's makes much more sense now. I love stock series classes. They keep things pretty even and very competitive!

Gazz the bar you refer to doen't go across the roof, definately in the b pillar. Not sure what other models it is in.

I've loaded the regulation for the category here for those that are interested.

Gazz, the car is being built at Bruce Lynton BMW as you know. It is in the workshop and you can come and see it if you like at anytime. Ask for Nick Hinton or Mat Smith.
Soon we'll be listing all of the original items for sale that we don't require.

Aaaah... if you are who I think you are then you don't need to see anyone to take pics. Thanks for the offer to look-in. I will take it up.

Raw build, nice!

Can I ask, the three roof bars, were they put in new (as they are black on top)? How fiddly is the roof reassembly; do the roof parts 'snap' into each other with lips etc or are they hard to align? How did you go about prevent and or eliminate any window glass gaps?

Could you post more pics on the roof re-assembly?

thx, eeghie

Nice looking cage. That is an extremely robust configuration. Curious how you chose that suspension? KW isnt a bad but for racing there are more refined setups. Is that a series requirement?

The cage is built to FIA regulations as some of the races we run are international events.

We chose KW as we talk with BMW Motorsport on a lot of the partners they use, KW is one of them. The KW kit we have is a competiition kit, my understanding is the next stage beyond Clubsport 3 kit. The Australian KW guys are working with us on set up and as soon as we can give them corner weights they'll review the initial settings that have been provided.

The 3 roof bars are new. Picture below shows why. A BMW approved panel shop put the roof on. The process is lining it up and using a glue and rivots.
Some additional photos of the joins for you, one internal and other looking down on the joint between roof panel and frame going between a pillar to c pillar. The screw hole section is for roof rack mounts. On the lips were the glass will cover you can see the rivot points, no photo but can post one if you like.
