I'm also interested to know if anyone has retrofitted comfort access into a E82 that didn't come with it? New door handles and the module wouldn't be too terrible to do. Coding would probably be involved too but I think it'd be worth it.

Yup, I have the comfort access and the door handle does have to be coded to the car and the key fobs. But it is an awesome feature, people go "ooooo" whenever I show them.

That sounds great. Do you think any regular BMW dealer could do the coding? Did you install the parts yourself? A how-to on this would be great.

I am also curious to how this would go. I have an 09 too and I'm looking into doing this as well as an alarm retrofit.

It's possible, but it's not the easiest thing to retrofit. Besides new doorhandles, you also need some antennas inside the car and some modules. You also need to keys, and that's the main problem. A dealer won't order them for you, as they can't when the car wasn't equipped with this from factory.

I did this 5 years ago almost. It was fairly straight forward. but it needs to be coded to the car,

I ended up getting a new DME and Keys that had comfort access.

This is one way (but then you also need the corresponding CAS).

Normally a swap isn't necessary - the CAS can be manipulated.

Comfort Access retrofit or Keyless

THE main part is to get a keyless key with updated FA/VO on BMW-ASAP. Of course adding harness, door-handles and antennas, then coding the rights FA with NCS. You have an informative thread about E92 using ISTA-D there: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1211167
See page 5 the Doc i shared.
