Sway Bar bushing questions
Hey all, didn't quite find this answer. I bought a 28 mm Eibach FSB and it came with some Powerflex black bushings in the M3 mounts. Problem is, those Powerflex are friggin loud and creaky and I don't really feel like lubing them monthly.
Question: Will the stock 28mm M3 bushings fit the 28mm Eibach bar? I would think so but thought I'd check. Alternatively, can anyone recommend any quiet 28mm FSB bushings? Thanks. |

Thanks, but it doesn't look like Whiteline makes a specific 28mm bushing.

I had squeaky bushings on my last car, what I did was lightly sand the bar and scuff the inside of the bushings, then used some white lithium grease. It went for years without an issue after that. Just had to break that shiny surface which was what liked to squeak. Giving small nooks and crannies for the grease probably didn't hurt either.

Just had E93 M3 front bar installed. Like you, I can't see why the the M3 bushings wouldn't work- 28mm is 28mm. As I recall the bushings aren't stupid expensive so probably worth a try and that will be the end of your noise problems.

The problem with the Eibach bushings is that as delivered they super duper bind the bar up, and all that friction causes most of the noise. Light lubrication and washers between the bracket and subframe will solve this at effectively zero cost. Make sure the bar can *freely* rotate when the bushings/brackets are fully torqued.

I've had no sway bar binding or noise with either the stock bushings on the stock bar, the M3 bushings on an M3 bar, or with the H&R bushings on their bar. The H&R bushings are lined with Teflon to prevent squeaking; not sure if they're available separately or not. I never lubricated any of these set ups.
If your bar came with M3 brackets, I would think the M3 bushings would fit? Good luck.

H&R bushings are available separately, you have to special order them though. Just threw a set on my car last night as the old bushes were worn to hell and back again.
