The reviews for the 1M have been pouring in recently, with one review after another shining very positive light on the little M car, especially when compared to various rivals.

Now AutoExpress UK has come in with their own review. Right off the bat, the car they got to test was a Black Sapphire Metallic version, which is something welcome to the 1M fans who desperatly want to see more IRL photos of the car in black.

Going a step beyond just the looks of the car, the folks at AutoExpress gave the car 5 stars in their review and were not short in their general praise of the car. Their first line says it all,

Quote:
Could this be the best M car since the original E30 M3? The new 1-Series M Coupé is about as back-to-basics as BMW’s performance models get these days – it’s a simple formula of a powerful engine, a manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive.
Here are a few more select quotes from the review:

Quote:
This is quite a lightweight car, weighing only 1,495kg, and pace is blistering as a result. BMW claims a 0-62mph sprint time of 4.9 seconds, and it feels every bit as fast as that, while top speed is electronically limited to 155mph.
Quote:
Turn off the ESP and you can indulge in tail slides, although firm but compliant damping means it’s easy to cover ground at pace, revelling in the meaty steering and limited body roll.

With its compact dimensions, this is a sports car that’s nimble and quick to respond to steering, brake or throttle inputs – and as a result, it’s a real pleasure to drive at any speed.
Finishing off with this strong line,

Quote:
The best M car for a long time? Undoubtedly.

It is an absolute hoot on the track and an addictive plaything on your favorite twisty back road. "

When did you place your order?
The only reason I ask is that I have not been given a production date

The mistakes make the review seem less credible.

Also...it was proven that the limiter of 155 doesn't exist on the 1M.

Phew, it's not just me then. I go all geeky and buy copies of every mag when I buy a new car.

But, when time to sell comes, I enthusiastically produce this great plie of literature only to be met with slight bemusement from the propective puchaser.

Yup I also bought CAR. Couldn't find it anywhere yesterday!

Well this is the first car I've bought worth reading about. Looking forward to a proper write up by EVO.
