When I would bring my '08 328 in I would always get a X3. When I brought my M3 in I got a 328i. The two dealerships around here have very few 1's and none in the rental fleet. Didn't care for the older model X3, but still a great loaner.

I don't think its demeaning at all. The owner might have a 128i and so the dealer decided to give them a 'step up' loaner to entice them to upgrade once lease is up.

For my first service i'll be hoping for a 123d loaner coz i want to test how the diesel drives.

Absolutely true. A 1 series properly equipped the way you want it is NO entry level BMW. It becomes expensive pretty quickly, and a much better overall ride than the typical stock 3 series that dealers have all over their lots.

I say, ridiculous! I say my 1-series fits my needs, especially financial, quite well. Other than my wife, I really don't care what anyone else thinks.

What does the 3-series owner at the next gas pump suggest I do? Trade for a 3-series? Will he then trade for a 5-series? If I spend $150,000 that I can't really afford, can I hold my head high as I pump a few gallons of 93-octane?

Ridiculous!

Would prefer a 335 over a 328; however, its still a BMW and and not a MB or Audi.

i bet alot of 328i or 528i guys who get a 135i demo car, are the ones that feel foolish.

LOL those thread again.... I repeat over here in the province of Quebec they're are no loaners. You get a cobalt, civic from enterprise and go your merry way. As long as I don't have to pay, ride a shuttle or wait 4 hours at the dealership doing nothing I'll drive those cheap enterprise car and STFU. Even if the dealership would lend me let's say a higher priced car or newer if I'm not ready to buy well I'm not trading in my car.

lol I am not sure how you figure the 335d was so similar to the 328, its performance is pretty much equal to the 335i, while getting better gas mileage .

I wouldnt mind a 135 as a loaner, what I DO mind is getting a stripped car as a loaner. I ESPECIALLY HATE IT when insurance companies give you a crap stripped rental car if yours is in an accident, i expect a car equal to what I am insuring, after all that is the reason the premium is higher right, the car is worth more!

I think its smarter for the dealer to give a car i may want to buy in the future as a loaner, rather than a car that just emphasizes the good points of the car i already own lol

It sounds like smart marketing to me. My dealer pointed out that most people don't gravitate toward the 1, so giving them as loaners seems like a great way to give them some exposure. I sure was hooked after a single test drive!

Sensitive.

My dealer only has 328i loaners. Not a bad car at all, but I would rather have a 128 when my 135 is in for service. Where I park in the city I can park more easily in a 128 than a 328. I did ask if I could have the '08 M6 they have on the lot for the day when my 135 was in the shop. Literally all of the service advisors stopped and looked over at me. I said "no...serious. It's been on the lot now for 6 months...it isn't like its going anywhere today, so why not let someone drive the cobwebs off of it?" A chuckle and a "no...sorry" was all I got from the guy.

I just spent 3 days in a Chevy Aveo as a dealer loaner. It smelled like a dead prostitute and everything inside the car was sticky. I would have crawled through broken glass to have a 135 as a loaner

My neighbor got a 335d as a loaner, I might try to get it next time or a 128. I want to see how the 128 drives, but my car has been flawless since day 1 so my only trips to the dealer are for accessories.

Damn that sucks, the only thing worst than a non-BMW loaner is a rental car that isn't clean.

I currently have a 328i with M package as a loaner. The 3 just feels too big and long and less sporty. I don't like the boxy dashboard.
