All N54's forged internals?

Just need a quick answer as I am kicking around the idea of coming back to a 1er. Search not turning up the answers I need.

I read somewhere that all 2008 models have forged internals but some 2009s do not, and the ATs don't, but the 6MTs do, etc etc....

What about the 2010s? I'd like to grab the latest year.

Confusing as hell!

Unless your looking to set a world record in Horsepower there is no need to worry. There has been plenty of guys pushing these motors up to 700+hp with out issue. It's the stuff around the motor itself that break.

Definitely wont see that kind of power. I will probably go full bolt on like I did before.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Every N54 on planet earth when it rolled off the factory had the following

Forged Crank
Forged Rods
Open deck alu block with iron sleeves
Cast (albeit a very, very high quality cast) pistons

So the bottom end rotating assembly is forged with cast pistons.

no, none have forged pistons

they're hypereutetic cast (so better than cast of ye olden days)

I always thought the rods were cast? the rods i had had casting lines on them from memory.. probably wrong then haha. Wonder if it's even worth it going aftermarket forged :/. oh well! :P

the cranks are all forged (which is pretty cool)
