I tried to get my sister on USAA and they gave her a loan for a car( bc she lives in my house) but they would not insure her as she did not meet the criteria for FULL membership, which would have given her access to their liability products. IE: life ins.,auto ins. blah blah blah....

over the phone...they don't have it in the system yet so she manually put one together for me. She also said that the turbos have no impact on the cost...they only go buy number of cylinders

I believe you have to be Active duty, married to an active duty person, be a veteran, married to a veteran or a dependent child of the mentioned choices.
I copied this from their web site!

Discover the Value of Belonging

If your parents have ever been USAA members, or if you or your spouse serve in the military, you may be entitled to the benefits of USAA membership.
Who is Eligible?

Membership is open to:
  • Children of USAA members.
  • Active-duty officers and enlisted personnel.
  • National Guard and Selected Reserve officers and enlisted personnel.
  • Officer candidates in commissioning programs(Academy, ROTC, OCS/OTS).
  • Recently retired or separated military personnel.
  • Former USAA members who had auto or property insurance.
Military Separation or Retirement

Become an active member before time runs out. Secure exclusive savings and benefits by joining USAA before you leave the military.
  • Purchase an auto, homeowners, renters or personal property insurance policy by December 31 of the year after you leave active duty, Guard or Reserve duty to secure a lifetime of benefits.
  • Based on your date of separation or retirement from the military, you have one to two years to lock in your membership.
hope this helps.

My company does NOT yet have the 135i in their system. So they quoted me the rate of a 2008 BMW 535i. Was $194 more a year than my current car.

So any suggestions on how much bodily coverage someone should get? 25000/50000? Non insured accident insurance? I'm new to this.

I'm in PA so some insurance is state specific. My Bodily injury is $15000 each person/$30000 each accident. I also go with $1000 deductible for collision and $500 for comprehensive. Hope this helps.

Im about to turn 25, I currently drive a 2000 Impreza 2.5RS and was told by my agent at State Farm that my rate on a 07 335i would be roughly the same as I was paying on my RS. He said he didnt have the 135 in his system yet, but that it should be the same or less then the 335.

Check into Erie Insurance. They only underwrite drivers with very clean records, but their numbers are pretty low. My quote was around $800 for the year with 300/300/100 (NC) $500 deductible. I multi-line with another car and the house, so I'm sure it's discounted.

I even have an at-fault accident totaling $27k claim 7 yrs ago. they have a one time accident forgiveness policy, otherwise I would have no chance at staying with them. No speeding tickets. 30 yrs old.
