Finally have some sort of a VIN... only have the last 8 digits.

How many digits are there usually? I thought there was 14 or 15.

Anyone have any clues? I was told the first 7 or 8 are the same for all vehicles in AUS.

and you should find out how to get your full VIN (I think it'll start WBAU or something)

Hi guys,
FWIW vin has 17 digits, I just got mine this morning, can start with WBA then model (UL92) then last 6 numbers are serial number. Look at the 'ultimate tracking threads' for more info, just don't believe the Vin decoders. My new car was built in 97 apparently.

Keep posting when/if you get info, and we will see what ships they are coming out on. (the ww shipping tracker works, and you are meant to be able to find which ship it goes on, although mine does not seem to have reached that stage yet...)

Eventually got my VIN but not from the dealer in the end even after multiple requests. Car was at port of Zeebrugge as early as the 15th of January presumably after a train journey from the factory in Leipzig. So I'm assuming given that timeframe it must've been one of the first cars off the line for 2010 and probably built in the first week. Car stuck around the port for a couple of weeks before departing on Otello and now has only one more port of call before Brisbane. Due to arrive here in a few weeks. So by the time the car is cleared, prepped and ready at the dealer I will have endured an agonising 6 month wait to the day!

My car arrived on the Melbourne docks yesterday, expected delivery is next week. Any tips on things i should look out for on delivery day? I read in here Totti mentioned the "trickery" but i cant find anything anywhere on what you mean?

Which sip was that and how long ago did you order?
Which dealer did you go through?

Tips: I read a thread somewhere, take your dig camera, take plenty of shots in the yard before you drive it off, incase there's something you missed.

Ordered the car back in Oct 2009, but specified a 2010 build and compliance, so i got the first build slot in Jan 2010. The car arrived in Melb on the 23rd Feb Vessel: QUEEN SAPPHIRE.

Went through Stillwells, gave me the best price of all the Melb dealers in the end. Got the Perf parts from the US on one of my visits there, still in the garage waiting for a car to be attached to

I too confirmed an order in October for 2010 build but I'm still in for a 5 week wait or longer if not delivered before Easter. I see your car was also loaded on the ship around the same time as mine being the 15th - 17th January and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a tad sceptical about my build date plate being 2010. That's because I understand the car has to be transported a distance from the plant itself before getting to the port meaning build dates must start surely at least a week prior to the car arriving at the port. That's fair enough but I've heard that the Germans/Bavarians have some of the best working conditions around and I figured they probably have a considerably long break over Xmas/NY. Anyway, my sceptisim is pretty much unfounded if yours is also a 2010 build from around the same time. I guess they just have a pretty smart logisitics system in operation. You're pretty lucky too as I reckon all the stars must've been aligned just right with your car being built as early as possible in 2010, got straight on an express ship and made it here in next to no time! Let us see some photos once delivery is done and dusted.

Although I didn't get my VIN early enough to track Otello from it's start point, I notice in the two weeks I have been tracking it that it's ETA into Brisbane is already 4 days later than originally scheduled. It may well be speedy but it doesn't seem like that at present and hopefully it's not due to excessively rough seas.

Ha! The wait is painful! Our boat was delayed by 2 or 3 days at one point but made the ground back.

Do your self a favour, when the brunette/blonde calls you to try swindle you into tint, paint protector, leather protecter etc bear in mind she probably has no idea what she's talking about. I know mine didn't even know what tint the car would done at, and what the legal % was. Nevertheless i politely declined.

That's crazy! I ordered in December, they said it was a Dec09 Build, but 2010 Compliance?

I'm still waiting for my car! This is bsh*t. Something seems fishy - do you think dealers can, or are, dodgy?

BTW - What's the maximum km on the odometer that you guys would accept for a car just off the boat? That's the first thing I'll check together with the build/compliance plate!

Custom order? No way it's built in Dec 09 if it's a custom order. I ordered mine mid-Dec, and it's a March 10 build ie. not even in production yet.
