SCOTT,
Is there any way that we can "encourage" BMW Military Sales to offer the 1M? A point of contact maybe? The only thing I've been able to find is info for local dealers and most of them only know as much as the rest of us.

Thanks

Given all the other cars out there at a lower price range.. I can personally guarantee you won't see more than 2 or 3 other 1M's on the road. The two years I had my 135i I probably saw 3-5 other 128i/135i's around here.

Scott, 2 years without a 1M? BMW should rethink this strategy. Does BMW want to protect the M3 or sell cars?

I've had no issue with military sales so far with the 1M... Could be some BS if it's not offered, but in that case it won't matter. Makes my choice easier since I'll have to get the M3.

Maybe BMW will do what they did in the past... when the e90's came out... they continued to sell e46 M3's for a fair bit if time. What was it? Almost a year? Maybe one of the M's will continued to be produced durring that time frame. ?

I hope so. 2014 is the perfect time frame to decide 1M or M2. I prefer the N55, but if styling turns ugly, the 1M it will be.

Wow,
I am so happy to see the 1M in Brussels then! So, don't have to drive to the BMW Welt in Munich!

@M3 Power79
Are you sure about this time frame? I live in Luxembourg, but i usually buy my BMW's in Belgium!
So,please, keep me informed, if you know some news about this! I have to call my sales assistant, and ask him also about this!

if this is the case then doesn't it mean that there will be a replacement 1M as a 2014 model year? Assuming the 1M is a financial success for BMW AG (which I'm sure it will be)

i'll be going from 08 135i -> 11 1M -> 14 1M

Man they got this all planned out didn't they...

I've spoken with BMW Belux this morning and for the moment they do not know much more but mark this date in your agenda : 12/12/10 will be the official release with pictures etc.
For the moment Belux is still negotiating the official price and equipment and the amount off cars who will be reserved for our market. Rumour is 40 à 45 cars.

No, between confirmed productiondate and confirmed delivery date their is only a week or 2/3
All the other weeks are in fact a waitinglist. I've sold this morning a 3 series and delivery is still this year because we still have production quota for end of december.

This is very good news...

It would be infuriatingly short sighted to set an artificial production quantity limit for a car designed to broaden access to M vehicles.

This thing will become a legend whether they make 2,700 or 27 thousand.

This was one of many reasons I opted for an RS4 instead of an M3 (e.g. total number of imported RS4s in the US over 2 yrs equaled 1/3 of annual sales of M3s which of course will be produced for 4-5 yrs).

For people that want to pick one up in the secondary market, this is good news, you will have plenty to chose from. And yes, dealers should not be in the driver's seat and have the pricing leverage if BMW builds as many as it wants. I just hope I don't start seeing as many 2012 1 ///Ms as Evos, STIs, R32s, etc.

LMAO, same here. I'm not even considering ordering one until full specs are released. Then I'll still wait until late summer 2011.

Yes, absolutely seriously, and if I had to do it all over, I'd do it again in a heartbeat. And I say this being a total BMW whore. The RS 4 is my first and only Audi so far. And the car it replaced...a Dinan S2 E39 M5. So that should speak volumes. In fact if you look at the RS 4 boards, you will quickly realize a lot of the owners are/were M5 owners.

And in fact, a year after I purchased the RS over the M3 when it was time to chose a stable mate, I went with the 135i over the M3. In both cases, budget was not a constraint or the issue that deterred me from buying the M3, I went with the car that made both sense from a fun factor, looks, practicality, and "win your heart" standpoint. Has nothing to do with status. If I wanted that latter, I would have picked the M3 over the 135i, don't you think? Or buy it now instead of lining up for the 1 ///M. To me the E9x was a huge letdown, enough to actually make me switch over to the folks at quattro GmbH.

I am a member of the Manhattan Classic Car club (http://classiccarclubmanhattan.com/). Among our inventory of cars was an E90 M3, now replaced by...an RS 4, all because of popular demand by our many members. Both cars can be considered modern classics, because the direction we are headed I doubt you will be seeing NA V8s in a mid size sedan any time soon. True car aficionados like myself buy cars for the joy they bring, not anything else you are trying to imply.

I can't imply or put words in your mouth when you said yourself that you went with the RS4 for the simple fact that there are LESS of them despite being an inferior car to the M3. Sorry, I don't buy that.

Well, you seem to be distorting my words to serve your own agenda. What I said exactly is 'this was one of MANY reasons I opted for an RS4 instead of an M3'. Not as you state 'went with the RS4 for the simple fact that there are LESS of them despite being an INFERIOR car to the M3'. In fact I don't believe the RS 4 is inferior in most major categories I was concerned about. If I did, you think I would have bought it and actually paid MORE for it than what an M3 was available at the time?!

And I am not here to get you 'sold' on what I have to say. Sorry to have pushed the wrong button, should have realized I am dealing with a rather insecure M3 owner who takes issue whenever someone doesn't share his view of M3 being King...

Anyhow, this is not contributing to anything meaningful to the rest of the community here. My guess is that you, like many folks that throw jabs at Audi, have never tried the RS 4. Feel free to PM me, heck, can come and drive the car any time you like, if you don't find it impressive in its own (and different) right, then tell you what, there is a bier garten nearby and beers on me. So yeah, no downside in taking the pepsi challenge.
