I'm sorry. It was a 135 that I sat in.

Varoooom, varoooom! And that's just gassing it a bit, not like we were flooring it in the lobby or in the parking lot, so I think it's safe to say that the 128 will NOT sound like a Honda! |

I too went to the Houston Auto Show and saw the 128i. I love its size. It's compact without being too small, in my opinion. BTW, where on the BMW USA web site, does it list the cargo capacity for the vehicles? I haven't been able to find either that or the leg room for vehicles on that site.

Tiny compared to what? Overpriced compared to what? The 128i seems like a steal to me. No offense, but your post history suggests a history of irrational behavior.

128er, fancy having over 500+ posts and then absolutely panning the car at first glimse!
Its like having a long term online relationship with your perfect dream date and snubbing her on your first date because she was a couple of inches too short for you. Weird.

Like the rest of you I am quite happy with the size of the 128/135. I have been driving an Eclipse for the past five years and have been very comfortable in that. I can only imagine that I am now going to have a little more headroom, about 10 times the luxury inside, and there will be no comparison in the handling.
As for 128er, it sounds like you are changing your tune a bit based on your last post. I would say that if you have an opinion its fine to state it. But if you can't stand by it why say it.

Okay all I am saying is that the 128i is ~30K for a 230HP rear drive coupe with NO options in it! That bugs me a little, also it is too small FOR ME just because I said it is too small for me doesn't make it too small for you! As far as the irrational posts...:bs:

"Zigzagging the switchbacks as we climb the craggy terrain, our 125i feels magnetized to the road, though with traction and stability control both fully defeated, tail-out antics are a mere heavy right foot away."
I'm supposing that this is due to the smaller rear wheel size of the 125/128 ? No mention of the dreded understeer. |

Keep in mind that the 128i still has 230HP. Its not a high performance super car but it is still going to be damn quick. Not to mention straightline speed isn't everything. My MINI Cooper only has 115HP and its a blast to drive. And finally, I saw a 135i at the DC Auto Show last week and it was definitely smaller than I expected. That's a VERY good thing. If you want something bigger BMW has plenty of other options to choose from. Then again, so does Buick...

It's almost comical (clown-like, to stay on theme) how our standards inflate over time. The 128i's engine, the N52 inline six that generates 230hp, is better than the 330i engine of just a few years ago. My 1999 328i was top of the line in its year and wouldn't cut it as entry level BMW for 2008. Was someone concerned it would sound like a Honda... spare us, please... The 128i is a formidable car compared to the offerings of only a few years ago and rings in as the least expensive BMW you can buy new in NA (likely anywhere for that matter). 0-60 in (or just under) six seconds and, with a sport suspension, likely very similar handling characteristics to a stock 135i. Small? Maybe. But not a lot smaller that an e46 3er and bigger than the Mini Cooper that a lot of enthusuasts very happily drive around (I love the Mini Cooper S). Definitely a lot bigger than the Miata I owned and loved. Now my 5'6" frame gives me a little advantage over the 6'4" types, but I'll take a little advantage from my size where I can. I really think the 128i is under-credited and is a victim of a lot of over-zealous hyperbole surrounding the 135i, Cayman S and other comparable vehicles. The differences between the 128i and the 135i are not insignificant, sure, but not extreme either. Aero package and horsepower aside, the 128i with sport package and 135i are virtally the same. While I may end up going for a 135i, I can see the 128i being very satisfying for a lot of true auto enthusiasts. Let's get real, people...
