I guess I could've done a review of them, but it didn't seem waranted. But I'll do some detailed pics. The quality is good. Fitment is near perfect. They aren't completely flush on the inside thicker piece, I think they would be if I heated them up first. The lids fit very snug with the hood and inner kidney surround. I love em now. I washed the car today and it just complements the AW so well. I think any color would be complemented with the matte black. I would still suggest if you're really particular about everything that you paint them. I like that raw ruff look on particular pieces like front lips for example. My bastuck quad diffuser will be kept raw matte black also.

What material are the eyelids made of, and are they attached using double-sided tape?

They are plastic (ABS?) And yes, double sided tape. (3M automotive tape) They are good quality. This seems to be a good company. I wish I could check out thier 3er bumper in person.

Just got my Mattigs, thanks to HondaGoneRouge for shipping it out to me.
Now anybody planning to paint theirs?
Any tips on what type of paint, clear coat required?
The Mattigs are a bit flimsy and so will this have paint issues? eg paint cracking when installing due to flimsiness of plkastic?

I think you will be fine if you install them right after they are painted.

IMO they looked ok matte, but i just felt something looked off with the matte lids on jet black. scorcherjf what were u quoted for the paint job if u dont mind my asking?

They look like plastic... I mean it's ok for like a colored car, but not for black. It definitely needs some gloss if you want it to go well with black.

I just went to my local body shop in town and they gave me an estimate for $60. I think the local BMW service dept here quoted $150...

But the body shop I went to is next door to the Dinan shop so I think they have pretty good experience with BMW's, we'll see!

Guys I found a way of painting the eyelids on the cheap.
I found a local place here that will mix the paint as per factory colour and then put it in a spray can, just like any other spray paint cans you get off the shelf. There is also a can for clear coat as well. This should work out cheaper than getting a pro to do it for such small items.
I will be trying this method, so well see how it goes.
I think i might need primer as well.
