how hard is it to install and take off a jb3?

Not that bad. It helps to have the right tools. I recommend a screwdriver with socket adapters and a set of small screwdrivers for removing little clips. The hardest part is locating some of those little clips, which are hard to depict in the pictures in the instructions. Once you've found them once, it goes much faster. They manufacturer says 30 minutes, and I can see that being very doable after the first time.

Check out the pdf instructions and youtube video of the install to get an idea. As compared to, say, swapping all four wheels, it's more complex, but less effort and time.

REALLY EASY! I can do it in 10 minutes.
First pop the hood, and lock the car.
Its simple, first disconnect the alarm sensors by sticking a small flat head into the little small hole and turning the alarm sensor and pull them out towards the fender. Then Take your 8mm screw driver and take out all the screws on the cowl, take the cabin filter out. now take the two black covers on the left (for the ECU cover) and on the right( for the brake fluid reservoir) off. They snap right out. Once you take them out you'll see two bolts, one on each side. Take those off.
Once you take those off use a flat head to take off the battery rail off. Once you do that use your flat head to disconnect the tabs that hold the tubing that has the cables in it behind the battery rail. once those cables are out of the slit it sits in you can pull out the bigger cowl.
Now you can open up the ECU box(make sure 10 minutes have passed since you did all this). Open up the ecu Box and pull out hte large connector. Once you pull it out use a small flat head to pull out the two connectors. Take the two connectors from your JB3 and hook em up. Put the large connector back in. Do the same for the other side.

put the ecu cover back on and start the car to make sure you've done a good job

sounds kind of hard, are the jb3 worth it? can the dealers tell that you have a jb3 in or do you have to take it out to bring the car in to get worked on?

It is absolutely the best bang for the buck$. It is easy to install and remove (like 30-60 minutest job). You can watch the DIY video and see if you are comfortable to do it yourself.

There are several people here leave their JB3 in for warranty service (like regulare oil change and even HPFP replacement).

If they dont check....no but its a gamble you take if your too lazy to take off

If you are so worry about voiding warranty, you should not mod. I have taken my car to several warranty services (i.e. oil change, rear lights fix, 3rd brake light fix and even HPFP fix) with all mods stay on the car and no problem.

I am the one who stand up to what I believe. If I saw no reasons for the dealer to void my HPFP warranty because of my JB3, I am prepare to fight against the case. But this is me, so don't blame me if your dealer gave you some trouble.
