Verizon users - what phone do u use with Navi?

I'm thinking about porting my number to Verizon in the next couple of days and I'm trying to figure out which phone I can definitely use with the Navigation system in my 330xi (en route).

I know BMW has a site to check the "suggested" compatible phones (http://www.bmwusa.com/NR/rdonlyres/6...oth_phones.pdf ) but I was wondering if the Samsung a950 is also supported. I really like the feature of uploading the contacts into the navi screen ... still kinda wondering if Verizon "crippled" that bluetooth functionality as well?

same here, RAZR.

yes, OBEX is not supportefdon any Verizon phone (which sucks, by the way). you wanna make sure they charge for as much as possible. however, if you get the RAZR and you use a Mac (with BT installed), there is a work around that gives you the ability to transfer data back and forth (even works with iSync).

yes, after you pair the phone with your car, this will happen automatically. you'll have your entire address book in the A-Z list. the other lists will fill up as you use your phone in the car.

Thanks, I'll order it today. Thanks for the input guys, now if only the "en route" display on my order could disappear and state "arrived!"

I don't see it on the list from any provider... Doesn't mean that it won't work, but that it may be difficult to get to work and no one at the dealership may know about it (since it's not on the "approved" list). Unless there is some really compelling reason I would just get one of the phones listed. I'm actually going to get an E815 in the next couple of days since my contract is up and I get $100 toward a new phone...

Yea, everytime I called the dealership, they would just pull up that PDF file with the suggested models and state it back to me.

Cool, thanks peoples.

Verizon has one phone that has OBEX file transfer support out of the box, the LG VX9800 (the V). However, I'm not sure if you want a soapbox in your pocket all the time...

If you're lucky enough to pick up a Verizon RAZR that was made before February, those suckers were accidentally given full OBEX from Verizon....

Yeah, the newer RAZRs have a software that ends in .03. The ones you are referring to have it ending with .02 . I'll see if mine has the newer one and if so, downgrade it. I think they'll do it at the verizon stores.

All in all, as long as the contact transfer works, I'll be happy.

If you want to use the caddy as well, the Motorola E815 works great.

Samsung + BMW = dont work

The phone service doesnt matter. It just has to do with the manufacture of the cell phone.

Under the bluetooth section, no one has gotten a samsung phone to sync.

I had Verizon set to automatically email me as soon as the Razr was available. I probably ordered one of the very first ones they sold. I love it. It works great with my E90 (after I got the CIP 20 update).

I just paired my Motorola E815 with my friend's brand new 325i and it linked perfectly and the phone book transferred just great. (I have Verizon)

The E815 is around $50 or so at Verizon in LA right now.

Does anyone know if the .03 firmware update for the V3C still allows phonebook, missed call, etc. transfer to the e90?

I'm OK with not being able to transfer photos, etc. through BT, but if the .03 firmware update cripples phonebook, missed call, etc. then I will have a serious problem with Verizon.
