135i vert Lap on Nordschleife (Nürburgring)

This was my last trip to the ring before I left Germany.
NOTE: This was on WINTER tires....by the end of the lap, they are so hot and slick that just accelerating in a straight line causes traction control to intervene.

Enjoy!

You can't tell that well in the video just how out of shape it felt like I was when the car landed after that little jump. The danced a bit when I landed AND at the same time I had to slow for that corner.

-1) Forgot this one....go out and get Forza Motorsport 2 for the X-Box 360 (or GT4 for PS2) and drive the hell out of the ring to learn the track as much as you can. There are blind corners, and very little runoff to the sides of the track in most spots. You don't want to end up like the 911 GT3, E46 M3, or many of the other cars I have seen totaled on the track.
1) Go on a weekday evening...less busy usually..just make sure they are open that day
2) Unless you KNOW you will enjoy it buy a 1-lap pass to start. (some people are all hyped and get scared shitless after their first lap and never want to go on it again)
3) Pull off, let the lap sink in. If you enjoyed it, by a 4-lap pass.
4) Stay within your comfort level. Before I did the video posted above, I had probably done 25-30 laps on the Nordschleife, plus another 7 or so sessions on the Hockenheimring. That lap above was actually the scariest I had ever done as I was pushing my limits, and as a result, I almost bought the farm at one point. (With summer tires, I would have been a bit quicker though)

The suspension is at full extension at that point b/c of a dip. One of the other photos I have at that spot shows 2 of the wheels off the ground.

He was coming over a hill and his forward momentum turned in to upward momentum at the crest of the hill. At least that's what it looks like to me.

Now that the Nurburgring has been brought up was there ever an "official" Nurburgring time for the 135i? I mean they have one for the M3, 335i and even a CHEVY COBALT SS...but not for a 135i? Oh for shame.....

It didn't turn into "Upward" momentum, the correct physics explanation is that my momentum created a trajectory that created a parabolic path that was exceeded by the downward slope of the road surface causing the vehicle to appear to fly off the road when it was in fact the road that left my vehicle....or something like that (In the full size version of the below picture, if you look REALLY close, you can see that the left rear is also off the ground at this point.)

Hairy. Proof positive that the stock suspension needs to be tossed. Great video too.
