My new 135i
Hello everyone, I am new to the forum and this is my first post. I have been reading a lot of the threads here concerning the 1 series over the past 2 days while awaiting my accounts approval. So to introduce myself, I'm Filip a 20 year old college student from Florida. My first car was a 2000 Acura 3.2TL, second a 2004 325ci, with which I fell in love with. My Dad runs a small dealership in which he buys cars that were in accidents from auction, fixes them up and resells them. This makes cars which normally I could only dream of with my budget, much more affordable. All my cars were hit, and are now Florida rebuild title. My father is very professional and precise, leaving almost no sign of previous damage.
Now background story aside, a couple days ago I bought a 2008 135i with 46,000 miles on auction for $4,800. It has relatively small damage, with the rear passenger wheel bent (will include pictures below.) Now I looked up the vin, and it confirmed my thinking that this car has the sports package, as I could tell by the seats. But one thing that confuses me is the rims. Now they don't appear to be the rims included with the 2008 sport package. They are double 5 spoke wheels which at first I believed to be style 261 wheels and I got excited. Though upon further investigation I realized that the bolts are wrong and do not match the style 261 wheels. Can anyone tell me what these wheels are? And why would they be included? Were they ordered like that from the factory? Or did the previous owner install them? They still appear to be OEM BMW wheels. Thank you |

Also another question. As I am already making a list of things I want to add in the near future. The black line taillights have really caught my eye. I did some search on here and found a black line thread, though I could not find a clear answer and don't want to bring up an old thread. I am looking at the Schmiedmann website, so my question is; will the part number 63-21-2-225-282 taillights fit my '08? Is there any extra wiring or harness to be purchased? http://www.schmiedmann.com/en/tail%2...xt.aspx?ppp=10

I can't advise you on any of your questions, but god damn, $5000 for THAT? You might have made one of the best deals on this forum if damage is what it looks like.

Yea I was super surprised too. I expect the auction to reach around the 7k mark. I think the 1 series might not be as popular on the auctions, there are very few of them on there and I feel like most dealers are looking for 3 series'. Only thing is transport will cost me around 500 as it is in Oklahoma, and no one seems to want to deliver on holiday season..

The auctions open to the public seldom have the deals like those that are only open to dealers or people like the OP's father.
Also this is a warning about some cars that are sold by small car lots or even some dealers. I often go to dealer auctions, since I'm in the business. You'd be surprised at the very attractive prices of some of the rides that show up which need little more than cosmetic work! One was a late model Benz with a terrible paint due to vandalism. A dealer picked it up and had a small shop repaint it and doubled his money! One tip is to follow trade ins the local dealers take in and make offers on the vehicle the dealer plans to send to auction. |

Wow $5k! Congrats. Those wheels kind of remind me of OEM optional wheels for the 6 series but I doubt that is what they are. Or they may be X3 sport package wheels. Not 100% sure.

As far as mods go I want to focus on exterior and looks first, as going from my 190 or so hp E46 325ci to 300hp is plenty. I've already ordered the blackline tailights, which for these cars I think is a must exterior mod. Also I want to install the 1M style front and back bumper. A dual quad exhaust, I'm just a sucker for that look. I'll probably paint my rims black, 2 double coats clear on it for nice gloss. Though there is a style of rims I've seen on here that a lot of people have on their 1's, I think they might be 12 spoke but they look great in black. I'd like to do a color change too, like a nice stealth metallic grey to match all the black accents, this of course would be complemented by a black grill. And at the very end I'd love to get that carbon fiber Slek CSL style trunk. Almost forgot, my next mod is to put in some LUX V5s or 160s. Not sure which ones, they both cost the same and look the same. The V5 is color adjustable but I want to keep it white, don't like the look of blue I think it makes it look like those fake xenons people put in. But that's pretty much it, along with some shocks for a nicer stance I'd probably be looking at around 3 grand.. labor all done by my father and I at the shop (including the paint job) so some $$$ would be saved there.

Those are Styling 182, sir, if I am not mistaken.
At almost 50k miles I'd advise you to look around for new shocks at least, some detailing gear to clean it up a bit and last but not least, maintenance. Filters, oils, walnut blasting etc. |

The car arrived about a week ago. Damage to the rear consists of 3 bent control arms (not sure if thats what all three are called). Replacement parts only costed $100. Sadly, the rim is cracked, but I ordered a new one from my local dealer for $250 and it should be here tomorrow. Rear tires were in bad shape so I purchased new ones. Passenger side skirt is missing, as seen in the photo so a new one was ordered. Lastly, the bottom of the front bumper got scraped up pretty badly.. but was a good excuse for me to order the 1M style!
I have all parts in, including the blacklines , aside from the rim and front bumper. Overall I am very happy with the condition of the car. There is no damage elsewhere on the body, not even any dings or scratches. And the interior is literally pristine, I was very impressed to find it near mint after some detailing. I loved my E46 coupe but this is a huge step up and I am very happy with the car. Can't wait to drive it after my inspection with the local DMV this Wednesday! |

It's a shame that everyone is ruining these cars with 1M style bumpers and quad exhausts, but that's a very nice find!

I like the plan, op. I think it's gonna look pretty sweet.
With regards to the quote above mine... You can't please everybody lol. The good thing is that it's your car and you only have to please yourself.

I think a 1M replica bumper can look nice on a 135i, but they're definitely not for everybody, and not all of them look like they fit the car just right.
