Pulled the trigger

Well folks,

After lots of lurking on this site I finally put my order in.

'09 135i 'vert ST
BSM / Terra / Walnut / Moonlight
PP, SP, CW
CA, Nav, Park, Prem HF, iPod, SI

I was given an estimate of end Jan production and delivery late Feb or early March - but I won't hold my breath.

So now the long wait begins.

Thanks to everyone who have provided the significant content to this site.

Congrats!!! The wait will be worth it. :w00t:

I wouldn't hold my breath too much either, as if your production starts late Jan, I would look at late March or April, especially in CA. Late February seems unrealistic.

I can't wait to see the BSM/Terra combo. You just can't go to a dealer to see Terra, and I am thinking about the combo myself.

I'm sure that your wait won't be that long. Back in '79, it took GM six months to build my Trans Am. Maybe that mindset is part of why GM is in the crapper.

Anyway, congrats! Since it is the holiday season, you can have visions of 1ers dancing through your your head ; )

Why not? I was at Vista BMW South Florida and they had a AW with Terracotta in the showroom

Since they do, then it must have been a car ordered for a customer that ended up not being sold, since Terra is a Priority 1 option.

As much as I would like to leave the ice storm I see out my window and come to Florida and look at the car, I guess I'll pass.

DVDA, how did you like the Terra interior?

I've only seen good shots of Terra on this site - never in person, so I'm going by my gut.

I wanted a two-tone interior, and although coral and black look fabulous, I was looking for something just a little more conservative. The other two-tones were too light.

The idea of custom ordering a Priority 1 also played a hand.

thats the color combo i have, only i have a coupe...congrats on the order, you will not be disappointed. the terra interior just has this character to it, where its not brown and boring, but not flashy and red...it fits me (and BSM) very well...

What trim did you get?

I had a tough time between poplar, walnut, and black. They all seem to have their merits and I couldn't tell enough from photos or the configurator hack for viewing terra so I just guessed on walnut would look good.

i have the black trim, but wouldnt reccomend it. it looks great, however collects dust rather easily and small scratches are more noticeable. im sure the walnut will look just fine...

congrats. Looks like you have it pretty much fully optioned. Nice.

Please post pics of the car with the top up. I see very few moonlight pics...usually because everyone posts pics of convertibles with the top down.

Thanks for the info - I hadn't thought about dust & scratches on the trim, although I did think about that on the paint job. I once had a jet black Accord that was beautiful, but attracted pollen like magnet. I'm hoping metallic will be less of a problem.

Your shift looks awesome.

With this car I'm moving from manual to automatic. Seems like sacrilege to get a BMW that's not manual, but I've gotten tired of doing a tap dance whenever I get stuck in stop and go traffic. The power of the engine and the Steptronic transmission is just so good, I didn't think I'd miss the manual tranny that much.

probably around 3rd week of march, my car has been in 150 status for a week and is technically in production but hasn't been built yet because the factory is closed down so hopefully it will be done first week of january. Than add a month for transport and prep and it should be here first week of february fingers crossed!

I have to admit, I wouldn't think White with Terra would look that great.

But to each his/her own.

bad news / good news

Frustration - I tried really hard to switch to the M Sport Package, but have been told that since my car is already in production, it's too late to make the change. Real disappointment.

On the plus side I guess that means I'll be getting my car sooner rather than later.
