How much are n54 cats worth?
I have a 2010 135i with the n54 motor. Im looking into swapping out my mid pipe for the n55 (non catted) midpipe.
How much are they factory cats worth? And where are you selling them? |

Well, to buy new from BMW downpipes are like $800 and catted midpipes are about $1000 if I'm remembering right. I know part of that is the cost of the metal itself and the cost of manufacturing it. However, you'd be lucky to sell the DPs or midpipes for $200. Since they come on our cars, there isn't much demand for them. You have to be lucky enough to chance upon someone who sold theirs already that wants to go back to stock.
If you're talking about just the straight up cost of the cats themselves, there's some precious metals in there that are worth a bit of money. The actual price would depend on who you're thinking of selling to, though. Usually metal/junk dealers would be interested.

Keep them for when you sell the car. That will allow you to recoup the most $ in the long run as you can sell your used aftermarket pipes for more than the stockers.

The Catted Mid-pipes are not worth much unless you know someone is rebuilding and needs one. If you like it keep it if not well you have $50 you can pick from a Junk Yard or Metal Recycle place.

You might be able to pitch them to N55 guys with downpipes. I just put an N54 mid pipe on my car so it doesn't smell like a lawn mower. The n54 mid pipe works perfectly to civilize N55s without cats.
